last years seed

Re: last years seed

Would also think the seed would be fine, pennington seed is good quality seed. I have had really good results with their seeds, tecomate seed are good too. Have planted seed two even three years in some situations after buying it and still have good germination rates.

A coop might possibly be able to reinoculate the seed for you.

Re: last years seed

Seeds vary by how much germination % they lose over time. Commercial seed has to be re-tested periodically; that's why the germination % is listed on the label. Even if it starts to decline, the difference may only be 10%. Once it gets to a point of expiration, the company has to decide if it is worth re-testing and re-labeling for sale. I'd inoculate legumes for sure unless you are planting into a field that was in clover recently.

Should be a good deal for you!

Sorry about this hyjack.

I have some clover seed left over I want to save for frost seeding. If seal it up air tight with a food saver will that help it keep longer?

Keeping it in a dry dark place I would think will keep the seed about as well as sealing it in a food saver bag.
