mule659
I'm thinking of buying an NEF Handi-rifle in .243 win to have around the farm to shoot coyotes and other varmints. Can anyone here tell me some info on these rifles? I know they are affordable but are they decent quality and pretty accurate?
Gator
Re: Handi-Rifle I have one in .243 with a CHEAP 4x scope on it. I am REALLY impressed with the accuracy of it.
huntinsonovagun
Re: Handi-Rifle I am more than pleased with mine. I can shoot sub 1-inch groups at 100 yards with mine....off a bench of course. Great little rifle. Shoots better than a couple of my buddy's Encores that cost twice as much! AJ
Re: Handi-Rifle I too have a couple of them and I am very satisfied with their performance. I have a few barrels and each one will shoot sub MOA with its favorite load. With a little tweaking they are very good guns for the value. johnf
Re: Handi-Rifle I've got a handi in 243 and 25-06, both shoot sub MOA of the bench and shoot around 3-3 1/2 inches at 300 yards from the prone possition.
huntinsonovagun
Re: Handi-Rifle I was easily shooting pop cans at 200 yards (per range finder) with mine from the bench. Not sure of the diminsions of a pop can, but I like to visualize them as an exploding prairie dog, since we don't have PD's in this part of the state. johnf
Re: Handi-Rifle If you are going to be doing some serious shooting I would suggest as soon as you get it that you send the reciever back to nef and have them drop the trigger pull down to their minimum. It comes at about 7lbs which is pretty darned stiff. They will do the work for free and send it back to you at no charge. They also send some freebees back with it sometimes. I've found thier customer service to be very helpfull and prompt. If it's going to take awhile they will be honest about it up front. huntinsonovagun
Re: Handi-Rifle [ QUOTE ] Can you get an aftermarket stock for them??? Andy [/ QUOTE ] I have seen several. I saw one aftermarket stock that made the Handi look like an AR. Kinda cool, but not really my thing.
AJ
Re: Handi-Rifle [ QUOTE ] What caliburs do you have them in ? I don't own one but I'm tempted !!!!! [/ QUOTE ] I have a 22 Hornet that was rechambered as a 22K-Hornet that is a nice 3/4" shooting gun. I have a 223 Heavy Barrel that will shoot 1/2" - 3/4" groups with its pet loads. I have a 223 that I rechambered as a 22-250 and it shoots sub MOA. My Ultra Comp is chambered for 30-06 and it will average just under MOA with its favorite load. My last barrel is a 45-70 and it will shoot MOA when I can hold it steady for that many shots. All guns have been measured with 5 shot groups at 100 yards. There are a couple places that have custom stocks for the Handi Rifle. Gunstocks Inc has a cool wood stock and a couple places offer synthetic stocks.
