If you have an attention to detail ,patience and time i would suppose you could get it done. Hardest part would be finding a tannery that will take your cape and all. I would guess for most of us it would be easier to just use a professional taxi. Why would you want to chance it too if it is a good enough animal to mount?

It really depends on the person. Some learn quickly and turn out a decent mount. Others go at it for years and never get the hang of it. In my opinion those beginners kits are garbage and thats exactly what your mount will be if you use one. If your serious about trying go ahead and start off on the right track by ordering an instructive video from a good supplier. Watch it and it will give you a good idea on whats involved and then you can decide if it's worth it. A good video to get is Whitetail Mounting Basics from Mckenzie Taxidermy Supply. Dennis Behn is the instructor and the methods shown are up to date. Just to give you an idea of labor involved, I probably had around 15 to 20 hours invested in my first mount. That dont include the months and months I had spent prior to mounting, trying to learn and doing research. Good luck, AW.
