Re: Back Tension

Ryan .. i am shooting a 4 finger Carter Solution 2 . i shoot it with BT , but i do not push and pull any more. i simply hold my form and concentrate on the center and the release goes off.

i have a bunch of Bt releases. a Carter Just Cuz thumb trigger 3 finger , a scott 4 finger longhorn. 2 Zeniths, both 3 finger and a solution 2.5 4 finger.

i also have a Carter One shot that ui use for hunting. i can use Bt to shoot it, but for hunting i just use a slow squeeze.

the Solution 2 and my Just cuz are my primary releases. the just cuz is my back up . the 2 Zeniths and the Scott are for training and im still testing them to see if i like them for Indoor or 3D.

the choice of 2, 3 or 4 finger mainly depends on the person. some like the feel of a 2 or 3 at the anchor point. some like the safety features and some like pure Bt releases. your going to have to find out this one for yourself.

but if i was teaching you, i would start you out with my solution 2 or any BT with a safety. then let you shoot it with your eyes closed at about 5 feet from the bale.

the reason for doing this is to get the feel of the surprise your going to get when it goes off. you will not make any percieved hand motion to get it to go off. you just push and pull and WHAMO.. off it goes. grin.gif

the look people have on there faces is priceless when this happens fro the first time or 2 or 3.... wink.gif

once you learn how it feels to shoot like this, then you must train yourself to shoot with your eyes open and get the surprise release.

this is where the real bugger comes in. because you dont want to start your push pull until your pin is good , but when the pin isnt good you let off and you play this back and forth game .. this is bad.

you must learn to forget about the pin at all. you must concentrate or burn a hole with your eyes into the center of the target you want to hit.

once you are at full concentration, let the release happen, follow through and then do it the same way again..

whats spooky is when you know the pin doesnt have to be in the center for the arrow to go there. you just almost WILL the arrow into the center..

i hope this helps some. i know its long, but i get excited on this subject and love to share what i have learned from the road of hard knocks. i have made just about ever mistake you can make and now im think im finally getting what works for me.

by the way what works for me might not work for you. you must experiment with that .. good luck

Shoot Strong

Tony
