Great Pro-Gun News from NY, of all places

Albany - Teens as young as 14 can legally shoot pistols in a controlled setting under a law enacted in New York earlier this summer.

The new statute was hailed as the first new pro-gun law in New York in a decade.

Signed by Gov. George Pataki, it will allow New York youth to learn to use handguns under legal adult supervision at shooting ranges.

The law previously had allowed only those 18 and older to use handguns, and critics argued it hampered children in New York who wanted to take part in Olympic shooting sports.

The Rest of the Story!!!

Hip-Hip HooRay!!!!

That is good news and hopefully it will get more youth involved...providing their parents have a pistol permit in the first place wink.gif

(here you actually have to have a permit just to own a pistol) smirk.gif

From the DEC website:

Possession of handguns in New York State requires a NYS Pistol Permit. New York does not recognize permits issued by other states.

Now there is a law that needs changing too wink.gif

There are ways for outsiders to bring pistols to NY. My brother in-law is from Vermont and he brings his pistols for competitions. There is even laws in writing othat a young shooter (of any age) can bring a pistol into NY and shoot in cometition. I have the paperwork in my desk to prove it.
