huntinsonovagun
I own an 870 express and last dove season I lost the spring from my magazine (in the heat of the excitement, dummy me put a shell in backwards, so I had to disassemble my gun). While disassembling, my spring shot off somewhere. I bought a new spring, but this one sticks every once in a while, which means there is no tension pushing a shell into the chamber. I noticed when I got this spring, it was a little longer than the original, which meant more tension. I thought more tension would be good, so I never cut it. Now I have problems every once in a while with the spring sticking. I tried cleaning my magazine tube, but it still sticks from time to time. Do I need to cut the spring down, or what is causing it to stick????? It's not that complicated, which is why I can't figure out how the heck it's sticking!! too_pointer
Re: 870 magazine spring Why don't you buy another new spring and try cutting it and see how it does. They have to be pretty cheap. If it works , great, if not you still have your first one. to work with. too_
huntinsonovagun
Re: 870 magazine spring Or....I could just cut the current one down...... Just getting a few ideas before I go and do that. Not expensive, but as a college student, I try to save everywhere I can.....
AJ
Re: 870 magazine spring Actually, I would replace the follower with a good high quality one like this aluminum one. Granted its a few bucks but it will operate better than the original one. I would also suggest cleaning and using some steel wool to be sure there is no corrosion inside the tube.
