Cut an easy walking trail to that water source. Carry as little as possible. Don't wear a hat wile walking. Get a short haircut a few days prior. Take a ziploc bag with a washrag, a little water and some ice cubes. Wipe off your face, head and neck with a cold wet rag. Trust me on these things....in SC its hot for the whole hunting season not just the start.

i try to hunt lock on or ladder stands early in the season to avoid carrying a bulky heavy climber when its hot out. I carry as little as possible and usually wear my old under armor football undershirt to the stand to keep me cool til im up in the tree. And take water.

This is very true, it could be 95 on opening day here with that Carolina humidity it can feel like 105.
