wtnhunt
Re: hot weather on opening day Wear light clothing, take water or something to keep hydrated. Afraid it is going to likely be warm for our opener here on the 23rd too.
hunterfisherman
Re: hot weather on opening day Find a good water source. Deer need to drink. If it's hot they will get to it at some point.

Switchback29A1
Re: hot weather on opening day Be patient...I really think the deer are getting used to it. Last year we never saw deer before 5:30 and now i'm seeing plently of deer in the soy bean fields as early as 3:30. Know that it's not likely, but possible. Then when the moment comes...see if they can hold it.
Guest deadeye270
Re: hot weather on opening day Cut an easy walking trail to that water source. Carry as little as possible. Don't wear a hat wile walking. Get a short haircut a few days prior. Take a ziploc bag with a washrag, a little water and some ice cubes. Wipe off your face, head and neck with a cold wet rag. Trust me on these things....in SC its hot for the whole hunting season not just the start.
ODH
Re: hot weather on opening day last years opening day was kinda cool but still warm once the sun came up. I think this year will be cooler, because yesterday and today the temps have went way down, and I'm enjoying it!
DSGB
Re: hot weather on opening day I wear my bug suit with just shorts and a t-shirt underneath and carry plenty of water.
Guest generallee
Re: hot weather on opening day i try to hunt lock on or ladder stands early in the season to avoid carrying a bulky heavy climber when its hot out. I carry as little as possible and usually wear my old under armor football undershirt to the stand to keep me cool til im up in the tree. And take water.
