Shaun_300
hey, just wondering what y'all ice fish for. And where ya fish. I fish on Golden Lake in Ontario which is near Pembroke, Barry's Bay and Eganville. I fish for northern pike, perch and whitefish. Used to fish walleyes (pickeral) but they closed the season for them to restock them. Walleye season opens again in 2007. CANT WAIT. I still catch the odd one trolling in the summer, and when i do get them they are all over 8lbs. I dont feel bad releasing them because there the producers of the lake until the fingerlings mature. have a good ice fishin winter this year boys! Jeramie
Re: What kind of fish do you ice fish for?? Not really an option in Oklahoma.... I would love to try it but we just dont get cold enough. We've seen ice thick enough to walk on and probably fish on but thats real rare. Sure it may be a couple of inches thick but chances are that isn't all over the pond/ lake. We mostly take to docks during the cold winter months. There is one in particular I go to that has a grill (burgers, eggs and sausage, pork chops, etc.). The also keep the Ashley stove stocked with wood. Its a might fine place to hang out and its only about $3 for a full day. You can catch perch in there all the time but most people are after the Crappie. fisherguy
Re: What kind of fish do you ice fish for?? I usually do a lot of ice fishing for lake trout, walleye, whitefish, and some for brook trout. When walleye fishing we accidentally catch a lot of perch and pike. buckee
Re: What kind of fish do you ice fish for?? Perch and smelt was the main fish we used to catch on Lake Erie when I was young and ice-fishing. Lots of great eating there. Back then we used to fill a burlap bag full of perch and smelt to bring home. Good memories for sure. I haven't been ice-fishing now in over 30 years, so I have no idea what it's like now. We call them "#$@ @$#! bait stealers" lol Last year it seemed every flag I got had a perch on the other end...makes for a cruddy fishing day! bulldawg
Re: What kind of fish do you ice fish for?? I fish for perch, bluegills, walleye, northerns. Catch an occasional bass now and then while jigging or on the tipups. The lake by us is froze over now. But, was still deer hunting. Delavan Lake had people on it. They are some of the local crazies, as that ice must still be super thin!
