wtnhunt
Thinking seriously about a .223 in a semi auto. Maybe might be what I get myself from the wife for Christmas. Wal mart here carries the mini 14 in .223 now for $514. I know AR-15's can be made to be extremely accurate long range rifles. How does the ruger compare to the AR in performance or is there any comparing the two. I am not out to shoot any competitions, just shoot some varmints, have a little fun, and get some cheaper target practice shooting out to probably 200 yards. WaCoyote
Re: ruger mini 14 or AR 15 I was going to buy a mini 14 years ago but I've never heard anything good about the accuracy. In fact they are supposed to be terribly innaccurate. This can be fixed but it'll cost you. I don't have any 1st hand experience but this is what I've heard. AJ
Re: ruger mini 14 or AR 15 As I have said a few times in the past, the best way to make a Ruger Mini-14 accurate is to trade it in on an AR15. While there are a few Mini-14 guns that are decent shooters, they are no where near the level of the AR15. Granted the AR will cost you more but its a better quality gun. There are a lot of options when it comes to the AR. You can get different calibers, different uppers, different stocks, and high quality triggers. This is not so with the Mini-14. rifleman25
Re: ruger mini 14 or AR 15 I have a Ruger mini 14 ranch rifle and have shot it for years. Killed lits of coyotes and prairie dogs with it. I shoot about 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 with it.
mule659
Re: ruger mini 14 or AR 15 I have never shot a mini 14 but do have an AR and the accuracy I get out of it will be hard to beat.
