ALAN
Does anyone put stock in the moon phase having significant bearing on deer movement?
TexasDeerHunter
Re: moon phases Read a book called "Whitetail Maovement" by John Wooters. My opinion is based alot on that book and a research project by Texas Parks and Wildlife which shows that photoperiods ( the length of light in a day) are what cause deer to move and what sets off the rut. wtnhunt
Re: moon phases I hunt whenever I can despite what the moon phases may suggest. I have however noticed that on full moon activity will be significantly lower in the mornings and afternoons. Deer seem to be more active for short periods of time mid day during the full moon. Guest TIGER81
Re: moon phases very much so, i have spent a lot of nights out in the field taking notes on movement as the phases change and you can learn a lot about the patterns by keeping an eye on the phase. BrotherBadger
Re: moon phases The Moon is very important to my hunting. If it's a full moon out. I usually sleep in and go out for a mid-day hunt.
iabow
Re: moon phases There was a one of my favorite shows on today "Deer and Deer hunting TV". Alsheimer is on it and he was talking about the phases of the rut in relation to the moon phase and how to hunt them. I could be off alittle on the dates but he said the seeking phase of the rut would happen around Nov.4-8, the chasing phase Nov.9-15 and the breeding phase would start around Nov.15. Of course the weather has to cooperate also, He said above 40 something temps will shut things down. Like I said I might be a little off in my memory but close enough to get the idea. It was very informative, if nothing else make you think about some things. I recommend watching it if you can.

johnf
Re: moon phases I don't get to hunt much. When the moon is in phase for hunting it's just a bonus. I hunt ever day that I can.
