Swamphunter
I am in search of a more accurate slug for my Remington 870 deer gun. It has a fully rifled barrel and a scope and I have had a tough time getting tight groups with it, with the ammo I have tried for some reason. Give me you two cents as I am willing to purchase and try it. Thanks

Hoosierbuck
Re: Recommend a slug for me Swampy-have you tired the Remington Core-Lokt Ultra saboted slugs? (These are NOT the copper solids, btw.) They shot like nobody's business out of my old Mossberg bolt slug gun. Have not tried anything thru the Pro-Hunter slug gun yet, but I am getting ready to. I am thinking of trying the Hornady polymer tipped rounds. HB
Ohiobucks
Re: Recommend a slug for me Since I got my new Ultra Slug, I've tried quite a few rounds in the past few weeks. I am sold on the Lightfield Hybred EXP's. Very accurate and consistent, at a pretty good price. I tried the Hornady polytips, Remington coppers, Winchester platinum, Federals as well, in my set up none compared to the Lightfields. Good luck! RangerClay
Re: Recommend a slug for me Swampy, I hunt the southern tier every year. I grew up down there and I have been shooting slugs for 25 years this fall. Myself and the other four guys have tried every slug under the sun. I will tell you one thing, slugs are not cheap and cheap slugs are garbage. For myself, Brennekes shoot awesome out of my smoothbore 16 ga. 1100. If I had to start using a 12 gauge this season I would be buying Lightfields. My best friend has been using them for about 5 years out of his rifled barrel and I am amazed by their performance. They cost about $7 to $10 per box and you can probably get them on sale just before deer season. I would give them a try.
Swamphunter
Re: Recommend a slug for me Thanks Ranger, I have been shooting the Brennekes and you ain't kidding, they are not cheap! David_218
Re: Recommend a slug for me [ QUOTE ] Brenekke..VERY expensive though.. [/ QUOTE ] I've had very good luck, accuracy wise, using either Remington "Buckhammers" or Lightfield Hybrids sabots in my 20 gauge Browning Gold.
