CamoGuy
I woke up early this morning because it is the first day of school and I needed to get the kids up and ready. It was just after daylight and I glanced out the kitchen window as I headed for my son's room. Here is what I saw in the backyard. Enjoy. This guy is just a 2.5 year old but he is already sporting a very narrow non-typical rack that looks to have between 9 and 13 points. A view of him from the backside giving a 1.5 year old buck they eye. Anybody for a game of badmitton? The apple tree pulls them right up to the back porch. My tree stand is hanging in the tree over him. hopefully this is a good omen The whole crew heading for the woods. 8 deer in all, 3 bucks, 2 does and 3 fawns. CamoGuy
Re: A Good Day To Wake Up Early Yeah my thoughts exactly. These deer all live on a non-hunting area and come onto my property to feed on apples from the 3 apple trees in my back yard. There is practically no risk at all that they will be hunted. There is more of a risk that they will be hit by a car than killed by a hunter. My wife said "Your not going to shoot them are you?" I said "No I wouldn't do that...........at least not until they grow up"

CamoGuy
Re: A Good Day To Wake Up Early If you look at the bottom of the last picture you can see the top of my grill. On a few occasions I have been standing there grilling burgers and looked up to see a deer standing 10 yards away eating an apple. On one occasion my wife was laying in the sun and had fallen asleep. A doe walked up to eat apples and I guess she realized my wife was laying about 15 feet away. She snorted at my wife which then caused my wife jump up and run screaming to the house (we all know how bad an unexpected deer snort can startle you LOL). Let me tell you, there is nothing funnier than a woman in a bikini running one way and a deer running the other, both scared to death of each other. If I would of had a video camera I could of made some money on America's Funniest Home Videos.

CamoGuy
Re: A Good Day To Wake Up Early Oneida man - as long as he keeps coming back for apples for the next few years I can handle it Switchback29A1 - now if I could only figure how to get my lawn mower under my tree stand in the woods LOL Tom2008 - considering they have 3 apples trees to feed them all summer, they should be healthy. It works out really well for them because one tree starts dropping apples in early-May, the 2nd one starts dropping in June and the 3rd holds it's apples until late summer and drops them all the way into November. So they have a 7 month supply of apples to keep them happy and then I supplement feed in December, January and February with corn and deer chow to help them thru the hardest part of winter.
