fantasy guys: rate my draft

I'm new to all this and I had my first fantasy draft this past Saturday, I think I did pretty good. The league scoring favors runningbacks, we get 6 points for rushing TD's and 4 Points for passying TD's.

Starters will be (for now):

Eli Manning

Matt Hasselbeck

Tomlinson

Kevin Jones

Marion Barber

Santana Moss

Jeremey Shockey

Keenan McCardell

Mike Vanderjact

Pittsburgh's Defense

Bench:

Donte' Stallworth

Troy Williamson

Charlie Frye

Lawrence Marohney

what do you guys think?

IMO, your WR's are lacking. Perhaps using Manning or Hasselback as trade to get another WR. I don't like Stallworth or Williamson.

Love the QB's and RB's. I think when not if J. Jones goes down Barber will light it up. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maroney. Again, when Dillon gets hurt, Watch out.

LT is solid. Jones and Barber are sleepers. Maroney is a great third back...will be starting before the year's over.

Your QB's are great. Probably the best 1-2 combo in your league.

I personally like your wide recievers. Normally, WR's are secondary. Moss will have a great year as will Williamson. Stallworth is on the bubble but could benefit from an aging Horn.

I'd really have to see the other guys' line-ups but I think you should make the playoffs. I do think you could have made a better #2 RB pick somehow.

Re: fantasy guys: rate my draft

Kev, runningbacks went like hotcakes in this league. That makes sense because the scoring dictates it. I had the #3 in a wrap-around draft so all the good runningbacks were gone. I took Hasselbeck with my second pick, and then Manning with my third.

I really wanted to take 2 RB's first three rounds, but there wasn't a guy there that I could justify taking, except Chester Taylor...maybe.

I did almost land Edge James but he went right before my 2nd pick.

Re: fantasy guys: rate my draft

2 QB,

2 RB,

2 WR,

Then I can choose to start a WR or TE, or another RB.

Then the K, and defense. I really wanted to play 3 RB's most of the time, but like I said, when I was picking there just wasn't a guy I wanted to take at that time.

I'm hoping Mahroney is goona pay off ror me and then I'll be able to start

Tomlinson, Jones, and Mahroney at the sametime.

OK, here is my honest opinion instead just busting your marbles. smirk.gif

QB's are solid, starting those two together should bod very well for you.

RB's and WR's are another story.

RB's - LT is the obvious man, but it drops off from there. Who knows which KJ is going to show up, and for how long he will stick around if he does show up. MB splitting carries with JJ - RBBC is never a good thing. Mahroney will be a stud someday, but counting on him to help your team this year is a gamble.

WR's - Moss is a good grab, McCardell and Stallworth could go either way, TW is a question mark.

All in all, it is a decent team. Maybe, after the first few weeks and you feel you need some help, you could use a QB as trade bait for another RB or RB/WR combo.

Again, JMO's.......but what do I know, I still like Tressel...... grin.gif

You make some good points Tom, but the only thing I tried to do was predict what's gonna happen this year opposed to basing everything off of last year's stats like everyone else does. That can burn you worse than anything.

I think with Mike Martz taking over the Lion's offense with that passing game is gonna open up the running game for Kevin Jones...he should get a lot of catches out of that backfield too.

Mahroney will win that starting job quicker than anyone realizes (I hope).

With Brees throwing the ball and Horn gettign the attention of the oppositions #1 corner, I think Stallworth might surprise some people.

Troy Williamson...well, the only thing I know is that they're huge on this guy (especially the new HC there) and now that Koren Robinson his in the slammer, well they're gonna have to throw to somebody.

I expect Barber to take over from JJ too now that Parcells is there, and I think he'll get most of the goaline carries, so as long as he can find the endzone, he might grab some points for me.

I'm gonna let the first few weeks play out like you said, and then I might have to deal for a big name wideout. There's a few teams that are overloaded at WR and thin on QB, so I think I might be able to pull that off.

All things considered, I think Eli and the Giants are primed for a big year. I really wanted to land Plaxico to pair him up with Eli, but I missed out on him by about three picks. So I grabbed Shockey instead...lets hope they shoot for him in the red zone.

We'll see...I'd say I have the 3nd strongest team in my league. If I can make some good moves, I think I'm in the playoffs.

of course...none of what I justed typed will probably happen though. grin.gif

It really could go either way. We have all had fantasy busts on our teams in the past, whether we drafted them based on prior years performance or by trying to predict what they are going to do this year. It is a gamble either way with any player other than the very elite players sometimes, barring any injuries, acts of God, tribal curses, coaching decisions, karma, ex-girlfriends, murder convictions, etc. You get the drift.... grin.gif
