Guest madabouthuntin
Re: peanut butter!! I have hung large jars of the stuff from limbs and have have seen where the deer have been eating the stuff. The prints below the jar and the smooth licked surface of the peanut butter in the jar. Here is a couple of things to be cautioned about. Don't attached it to close to the trunk of the tree or on the trunk. Squirrels will eat the stuff as well. Do attache it to a tree limb out as far as you can awaw from the tree trunk. Also when you hang the jar do not use a rope or string. Squirrels and raccoons can and will pull the peanut butter up and eat what they want and then let it fall back down. What I used was a metal coat hanger. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the jug and either placed a wall ancor in it (one that is metal and flattens out when the screw which comes in it is tightened) or put the coat hanger through the peanut butter and put a couple of flat twists in it and then pull it back to the bottom of the jug. Hang the jug about 6 to 7 feet off the ground. This will make them work for the peanut butter and help keep them in the area longer. I hope this helps. Good Luck, Steve
unioncountyslayer
Re: peanut butter!! I take the top of the peanut butter jar off, screw it into a tree, then screw the jar back onto the top and cut the bottom of the jar off. It does work. Stinger-Hunter
Re: peanut butter!! My wife bought the natural peanut butter a few weeks ago and it is disgusting. She asked me if I was going to eat it, but I told her I'd take it out to my deer stand. Hopefully the deer will like it.
deerslayer10
Re: peanut butter!! I cut two holes in the top of the jar and cut the bottom out and put a rope through it and tie it to a limb or something and i put a sort of big rock under it so when it drips it will drip on to the rock and the deer will come lick it off the rock.. silentgate
Re: peanut butter!! I've tried the peanut butter but around where I hunt the coons and squirrels seem to consume the most. I have to go with JIF as it is made just up the road in Lexington, KY.
Tetro
Re: peanut butter!! My question is, if you cut the bottom of the jar off, how long the peanut butter stay in the jar before gravity takes over and it all falls out? Gutshot5515
Re: peanut butter!! You nail or screw the cap of the pb to the tree, cut a hole in the bottom and then screw it on. It will not fall out.
Guest madabouthuntin
Re: peanut butter!! Even when you do as I do with hanging it from a tree limb upside down, it still doesn't fall out. It is thick enough to stay put in the jar. Even when a deer or other pesky critters get into it, it stays in the jar. Steve
