huntn4bucks
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? I have bow hunted turkeys numerous times. It's definitely worth trying a second time if you're up for the challenge.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? Dont get flustrated with not taking a turkey with a bow the first time ... its one of the hardest things to do ... stick with it you will surely reap the rewards. Born2Hunt
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? If you are new to turkey hunting get a few birds under your belt with a gun first then switch to a bow if you would like. Turkey hunting can be very challenging with either weapon just don't get dissappointed with your bow and give up the sport.
SpcNape
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? I shot a turkey last year with a bow, but the I wasn't able to retrieve it. Found good blood on the arrow, but the turkey acted as if it hadn't been shot. It flew off the river bank to the other side and ran forever. I was able to watch him running in the field for several hundred yards, and he never even stumbled. I plan on hunting them with a bow again, just a little weary about not making a retrieval. I hate to wound a bird, and not find it. A buddy told me that a turkey can be shot well with a bow and still survive... not sure what to think of it all. mo_hunter
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? Yes, turkey hunting with a bow is great. I've killed 2 with a bow a bearded hen and a 17 1/2 lb. Jake. The best advice would be to use a large mech. broadhead, I like 2" to 3.5" mech. rocket hammerhead or the sledgehammer. fenderhunt4
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? I hunted to fill my second spring tag with a bow kill but never got the chance to connect on a bird. I think I am going to give it a try this fall again. Rhino
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? Tried it a few times but haven't bagged one with a bow yet. I may take my bow to the King Ranch next spring. One guy in our group did last year and killed 2 Rios with his bow without using any kind of blind. He missed 5 other birds during our 2 day hunt though.
wtnhunt
Re: Bagging Turkey with a Bow ? Have had a few opportunities to draw on some with the bow while out deer hunting, but unfortunately there is no fall hunt in this county.
