THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT (Part II)

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions.

First, is this thing still on, haven't heard or seen many comments on it lately, less than 2 months now?

If the answer to the first question is yes, please continue.

I have a 4x4, are tire chains necessary? required? 2 tires or 4 tires?

I have a 4 wheeler, should I bring it?

Will anybody have room for me to throw my cot & sleeping bag in there tent?

In one thread there was a mention about contributing to the meal cause, any more info on that?

That's all. (for now)

TT,

Tire chains are always a good idea to have for camping in the High Country in October. The weather is hard to predict but most likely there will be some snow on the ground. And it should shock no one if you got a foot or more of snow. When that happens you will want tire chains. A 4 wheeler can be valuble for getting around but remember it is illegal to take them off of a designated road or trail, even to retrieve game. it is also quite common to hunt in tshirts in the afternoon in October. Be prepared for anything.

I got a few questions as well. Is this place where we are camping...is it like a camp ground that has showers or bathrooms. I can't imagine trying to stay scent free without a shower for over a week. Just wondering!

I think this is where we get to test the ol' campfire cover smoke theory grin.gif

If there's NO showers available, I'm sure NOT jumping in any lakes thats for sure,,,,,

I'll do whatever it takes...I don't think I could go that many days without a shower or something! I guess heating water and washing that way may have to work.

Not a campground. Its BLM/NF Lands, free camping. Heat water and wash in a tub type of camping. If you wear two layers of long underwear the odor cant get out. Or jump in the lakes there, it cant be that cold if theres no ice on them. Good luck and hope to see you there...
