Strut10
Re: .257 ferguson hot tamale It's nothing new. Gunsmith James Ferguson is chambering his custom rifles in .257 STW and giving them his own name.....257 Ferguson Hot Tamale. The .257 STW has been around as long as the 8MM Remington Magnum. It's basically just a neck-down of the 8 Mag case to .257". RCBS makes dies and Qual Cart makes properly headstamped brass. It is a tremendous long-range medium game rifle able to get around 4050 fps out of a 100 gr. bullet. It is also incredibly overbore and uses the very slowest of powders. Expect barrel life in the 750 - 1250 shot range. I'd often thought about building a .257 STW but always got into some other pet project first. I ended up with a 7MM STW a few years back. So now, I imagine the .257 project will be scrapped unless I hit the lottery. I know it's gotta be a WHOLE LOT of fun!!
