Guest antlers21
I have been seeing a nice big buck on and off all season and have not had him close enough.(57 yards was the closest) Well tonight my neighbor shot a huge 12 point buck with his muzzleloader. He called me up and I went and looked at him and sure enough that is him. He passed near my stand and he shot him about 50 yards across the fence line. I told him congratulations and also that I was disappointed that I put so much effort into trying to figure out this deers patterns for nothing. Oh well, hopefully another big boy takes over his dominance.

dogdoc
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! next year plant you a delicious stand of Hamann Farms and the boy will never leave your property. I am sorry for you but congrats to our neighbor. I know this is disappointing but like swamper said "That's Hunting" Best of luck the rest of the season todd
Rhino
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! Sorry for your disapointment but like swamp said "that's hunting". I've been there before too. Congrats to your neighbor. I sure hope you didn't pour cold water on the thrill of him killing that trophy. Sounds like he wanted to share the thrill of killing that buck with you. Just my opinion but the possible loss of a good neighbor and a friend is not worth any deer. I know you're disapointed right now but I hate to hear you're feeling like it was all for nothing. Think about those days you went hunting for him with the excitement and anticipation of getting a chance to get him. Your time will come so go pat your neighbor on the back, get back into the woods and I hope you get a big one too.

robk
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! had someone tell me once there is a reason for all things, and i have gone by that for all mor most of my life. maybe his taking that animal was his reason and yours is yet to come if that makes sense to you. sometimes god makes it possible to make the story much better in the end. congrats to your neighbor and continued luck to you rob k
deer huntin k-man
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! Its late in the year so hopefully he passed his genetics on to a few does. If so you should have a few goods ones running around in the next few years. As for the other guy, if he is a ethical and law abiding hunter all you can say is congrats and start getting ready for another to come by your stand. Guest antlers21
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! Thanks guys and I am not upset at my neighbor at all, he is a great guy. It just sucks deep down and I will never hang my head too low. I know I learned a lot from this old buck and he actually had me getting sloppy and guessing where he would be. Thanks to all who responded and I just wanted to let you guys know about my experience and I am very persistant so I will be scouting and keeping out for some more big boys this next season. carbonhunter
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! [ QUOTE ] Antlers, Sorry to hear about this. I think it happened to me this year but "MY" deer waas jacked!!!!! As OJ says.. "It happens!" Let's just hope that it doesn't happen again at anytime in the near future. I used to try to wait until the end of the season to harvest a nice buck...but after this year of the locals jacking.....I won't be doning that anymore..that is for sure!!!! I'll still be letting the little ones walk. I hope you score on a good one soon. Dave [/ QUOTE ] Anlter-at least he actually shot it. I also am pretty shure my deer got jacked this year before i got to him.
randyoitker1
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! Don't give up just yet. In my experience with deer, if there is one that is letting himself be seen or shot. There are usually more bucks and sometimes bigger bucks that you are not seeing. Good luck, Randy

Rut-Nut
Re: neighbor shot my buck tonight! Antlers21- You got it backwards buddy ....................it was HIS buck you were seeing earlier in the year- you just didn't know it! I love it when someone says "he shot MY buck"!!!! Well, if it was YOUR buck then the good Lord would have had it walk in front of YOU and not your neighbor!!!!!! You should have seen all the guys at the parking area the year I got what the locals called "SLAMMER"- a big wide 8 pt. with unusual mass for Pa. I got him at 7:30 on the first Sat. of rifle many years back. I only saw him once in Archery at >60y. Had a half dozen guys stop at the truck while I was waiting for my hunting partner to come out. ALl 6 guys had seen him in Archery, but only 1 guy got a shot at him- put it RIGHT under the belly. One guy just kept shaking his head in disbelief- he had seen him 5 different days (one day saw it 3 different times)but never got a shot. BUT NOT ONE OF THEM EVER CALLED IT "MY(meaning their) BUCK"!!!!!!! Guess they didn't want to sound arrogant or self-centered!
