As far as value, quality and features what would you purchase if you were buying one? Would the new ones with the ballistic range feature be beneficial for bow hunters? Thanks in advance.

Dont know which are the best, but been pretty happy so far with my bushnell compact 800 rangefinder. Would imagine if a person had the money to spend on them, there are some really nice ones out there, but for my needs, the bushnells work, and did not cost all that much.

Re: What is the best overall rangefinder?

Bushnell makes some pretty reasonable rangefinders. I wouldn't spend the extra money on one with the ballistics ranging on it, not practical for bowhunting. I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro 400, works just fine, although it is sluggish in really cold weather. I would look for one that is fog-proof, rubber coated is nice, and waterproff...

Re: What is the best overall rangefinder?

The Bushnell Scout is one of the best rangefinders a bowhunter can buy. But I am a little biased though, because I am a Bushnell factory rep. It is simple to use and very compact. I can read a deer at 350+ yards with mine. There is a $50 consumer rebate on the Scout until the end of the year, which brings the camo model down to $219.99 and the green model down to $199.99. The only thing better than the Scout is the Legend. It is more powerful, almost as compact, and guaranteed 100% waterproof. There is also a $50 rebate on the Legend, bringing it down to $299.99 in black and $319.99 in camo.

I wish they made a short range (100 yard) range finder just for bow hunting with the ballistic feature so that feature cost a little less. The only reason I'd want the extra 50 yards for bow hunting is because I would find the extra range info use full to tell me if when they stay out of range if it's the same distance every time and if they are coming in range, how fast.

I was considering the Leupold RXII. I tried it out at Bass Pro and I was impressed. I have found a place on the internet where I can get it for around $270. It is $299 at Bass Pro. It does include the True Ballistic Range feature.

The one you can afford wink.gif

I have the Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport.

200015.jpg

(10-yard minimum, 800 yards to a reflective target, 200 yards to a golf flag, 200 yards to a deer, 450 yards to a tree)

My only complaint is that it does not have 2 attachment points on the back for use with a Bino Harness.

Other than that it does the job! I simply use it to verify ranges during practice and I laser trees surrounding the stand when hunting...then it goes back in the pack wink.gif

Well, I bought the Bushnell Yardage Pro Scout. They were offering a $50 rebate and I am all about saving money. grin.gif I ended up paying $190 after the rebate and shipping.

I have the Bushnell Yardage Pro 800 and it does everything I need it to do. With bow hunting I use it alot to see just how close my judgement really is when practicing.
