Guest Split_brow_tines
My wife and I are closing on a house and 11 acres in about 3 weeks. We currently live in town and have our garbage picked up weekly. Now that were moving into the country, I want to have a burn barrel and burn our trash. My wife says no because it hurts the environment. The area were moving to, it is acceptable practice to have a burn barrel and burn your trash. My wife just asked me that as a hunter, does it make me a bad hunter by polluting their lungs. She's funny. Just wondering what everyone else thinks about this. BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Burning question Burn the trash ... put a screen over the barrell to keep the debris from flying out ... a lot of landfills incinerate trash still so you would be doing no different. JimPic
Re: Burning question I can burn but the township makes us pay for garbage service so I set it out. They take it to the incinerator to burn anyways. If you don't have to pay for the srvices, burn it. buckee
Re: Burning question I don't see anything wrong with burning yard debris, paper, cardboard, etc. As long as your not burning plastic and other things that give off toxic fumes, the natural stuff is OK. Turkeygirl
Re: Burning question We burn our paper trash but that is it. Burning paper isn't as bad as burning plastic/rubber etc....I saw our neighbor one time start up a fire and throw in plastic 5 gallon pails and what not. Should have called the DEC or something but didn't. I think paper is ok, plastic trash is not, in my opinion.
