Re: Best trail camera under $200?

those all sound good. I am having problems with my stealth cam not being fast enough and catching pictures of the deer's butt.. or just taking pictures of nothing. do these eliminate this?

That will depend on the trigger on the particular model cam that you get. 35 mm stealth cams probably actually trigger a little faster than some of the digitals out there. Best to set your cams looking down a trail as opposed to across a trail.

Agreed on the position and set up tricks to prevent that from happening. Catching deer coming more at or away from the cam then across the front of it will prevent those pesky butt shots. LOL

If you want super duper trigger speeds you will not find them on trail cams under $200.

They all have there place and if you can afford them go for it, but for $100 per digital 2.1 I could buy 3 or 4 for the price of some of the hi end models.

My d-380s p32s and p41s I don't worry about the trigger speed at all. I set them up the same way I set up my old film cams which trigger instantly. I hardly ever miss deer or cut their heads off. The s40s and other cams I have to take into account a slower trigger - 2 seconds and slower. I have to set them up farther away from the trail and/or angling down the trail.

I have a film type stealth cam as well and trust me it's the camera! I have developed more pictures of beautiful woods than I have of woods with beautiful deer in them! The position is a key with this camera. When reading some of the web site giving the trigger speeds of cameras and other details, I think they said something about a 6 second delay or more. That is way to much time when a deer is walking by the camera.

That kind of trigger speed is true with any film cam. Some of the stealth digitals will take up to 10 seconds to trigger...

That is just way to long. Who on earth would want that on their property? Ten seconds!?!

i have a few stealth cams, got them because they were fairly cheap. i was having the same issue with just seeing the back of deer. putting the camera face on with a trail as mentioned above is a good idea. and i have tried to back the camera up a few feet from the trails. that way, the picture will be of a wider view.
