Tecumseh
I'm looking to buy a rifle for Antelope and I'm looking at a 270 WSM.Would this be an adequate round to use?
snapper
Re: 270WSM I would def. think so...you could even go to a lighter cal. for antelope. But I think the .270 WSM would be a good all around hunter.
gitcha_some
Re: 270WSM yeah thats enough, plus that gun could be used for plenty of other big game and medium sized game
Strut10
Re: 270WSM Welcome to the forums, 109!!! The .270 Short would definitely be a good choice for goat.

AJ
Re: 270WSM Yep, it would work on them as would pretty much anything from 243 Winchester through ??? While a magnum will work it is definately not necessary. Even shooting 400 yards, most any big game cartridge will work on pronghorn. plannerman
Re: 270WSM It'll work, but may be too much gun. I'm shooting mine at whitetail and mulies, and doing a NASTY number on them with 140 grain Accubonds. I'm thinking of going back to the safe for the Ruger 25-06 or trying less explosive ammo in the WSM.

[/ QUOTE ] My personal favorite for that application would be a 25-06 with a load like 115 ballistic tips or Barnes X bullets. That right there is bad medicine for any deer or stinkey speed goat. I have taken more than I care to remember with the 25-06 and the .257 WBY mag.
