Guest Bushpilot
This question stems from a reply I made to another post (New here and to Muzzleloadering & New to Muzzleloading..Need Help). In that post I describe my experience with the trigger pull on my new Kodiak Pro 209 Magnum. Now, I too am new to the ML hunt, but certainly not new to Rifle and Bow. I just recently decided to use a muzzleloader during ML season as opposed to my Bow. As stated in the above mentioned posts, I feel a noticably harder trigger pull on my ML. Is this typical for ML's as compared to a rifle (Savage Lever action .308). By the way, that Savage is 30 years old and is quite the TACK driver. The only comparison I have (personally) is between the .308 and the Kodiak ML. My buddy shot my ML on Monday and said it was a tough pull as well. As a matter of fact, during his first shot he actually paused to see if there was some kind of "Safety" engaged. I will admit that when the trigger breaks, it's clean. No creep. Just takes more finger preasure than I am used to. I would describe a simular pressure as a Double Action revolver. Of course the DA revolver creeps while the hammer draws back then breaks, but this example is so you can get an idea of the finger pressure. So here is the question...maybe your ML trigger isn't as I describe here but, are ML trigger pulls typically harder than a rifle?
AJ
Re: Muzzleloader Trigger Pull I adjust all of my triggers to be similar. My varmint and BR guns have 2 ounce to 1.5 pound pulls. My big game guns (ML included) have trigger pulls between 2 pounds and 3 pounds. I hate heavy triggers. Where in NOVA are you from? I just moved from Manassas to New Mexico. RangerClay
Re: Muzzleloader Trigger Pull I have an adjustment screw on my T/C Renegade. Check your owners manual or take it to a gunsmith to adjust your trigger pull. What you have is a "Lawyers Trigger Pull"

I have 5 properties that I have permission to hunt... 12, 11, 15, 85, and 209 acres. The 85 acres is on a horse pasture...only about 15 are wooded. And the 209 acres is at a vinyard...again 10 acre or so patches around the vineyard, but lots of hungry deer. Do you have private hunting spots? AJ
Re: Muzzleloader Trigger Pull Sounds like some decent spots. Deer numbers there are thick. I heard this years season will go into Feb. [ QUOTE ] Do you have private hunting spots? [/ QUOTE ] I just moved from there a couple months ago. I sold my house just over a week ago. I had access to almost 500 acres in Nokesville in Prince William County but since I left, I am done with whitetails for a long time. Now I will be hunting elk, mulies, and pronghorn. I will miss the numbers of critters I get to shoot, but I was due for a change.
Guest toothpick
Re: Muzzleloader Trigger Pull I sent a gun back to CVA a year or two back for heavy trigger pull. It broke clean but a little too heavy for my comfort level. They adjusted it for no charge and i shoot it a lot better now because of the lighter pull.
