Jeramie
For the first time ever..... I'm so ticked I cant even tell you. My dad, who is the Oklahoma version of McGuiver has been working on the wonderful Kia. For some reason he couldn't get it to time and couldn't figure out why. It would lock as if something was connecting when he turned the crankshaft. He decided to go ahead and pull the head. Huge job but we want to get this thing fixed and there is a decent chance one of the valves is bent. He started pulling stuff and when he got to the Plugs he realized someone had JB Welded in one of the plugs and it was WAY the wrong plug. It has been bumping the Piston!!!!!!!!! Something is also floating around in the cylinder and the Kia dealership thinks its part of a Valve. The part that really erks me is the Dealership did their typical inspection and didn't realize the plug was "glued" in... Or so I'm sure they would claim. BULL! Someone also took a chisel and chipped away at the Timing belt housing to get a look at the belt without actually taking the housing off! He started digging and Kia will sale me a piston for $85 if it needs replaced. I can get the Valves for $12 each. I'm also going to replace the Crank Shaft Sensor because its next to impossible to get to unless you pull every cover from the side of the motor, its $68. Kia said they have never seen one break from something like that. More then likely it will have some scaring but thats it. Hopefully they're right. If that is the case ill get out cheaper, still far more then I should have to spend, but cheaper. I drove this thing, checked under the hood, looked at the oil, checked the exhaust, etc...... There are somethings you just cant see without taking the car apart. Snakes....... They knew dang good and well what they were handing over. They have since sold the dealership and Id probably have no legal proof it was them, or they knew of it anyway. Talley: Timing Belts: = $85 Head Gasket: = $55 (2) Valves: = $24 Crank Shaft Position Sensor: $68 Grand total = $232 Unless I end up having to replace one Piston. Then we are looking at roughly $322. It could be much worse but this just makes me sick.

Jeramie
Re: Ive been had.... [ QUOTE ] Thought we had lemon laws for crap like this [/ QUOTE ] They do if you buy extended warranties. If you Dont your on your own.... Ive never seen or heard of anything like this so I didn't buy any warranties. Now this mess. There is nothing I can do legally. I have no way of proving their fault. BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Ive been had.... In Iowa that car could be taken back for something like that under the lemon law ... its a state law .. but I am sure you already looked into that ... I would ticked to for sure. at least you got to the bottom of the problem finally though. Steve

[/ QUOTE ] Read the stats, thats pretty much all of Tulsa these days, to many illegals. All I would have to do is drive the car to work and leave the window down..... It wouldnt last 5-minutes in this part of town.

wtnhunt
Re: Ive been had.... Would have never bought a kia in the first place, but with any used cars, you just never know. I can admit it. Ive never like the foreign junk but I was looking for a car I could literally pretty much throw away. Im driving at least 110mi a day just to the office and back. I wanted a cheap car I could drive for a year or two and sale to a highschool kid for their first car or someone looking for a junker. I didnt want to spend a lot of cash. I actually found a Nissan Maxima for roughly $3k more. I didnt want to spend that much more on something I would peddle off in a few years... Should have known better. Again, who would have thought a car with 50K miles would have been such a pile of junk.
