outdoorsmen1
well, i got up at 6, went and got into the stand, and saw a doe around 6 50, and thats all i saw the whole morning, i was pretty disapointed because im huntin a good spot, but i figured the full moon had them all messed up, then i got down and went home and went to sleep for a while. then went back out at 5. and had no action from deer what so ever, then around 7 15 i was fixin to get down i heard somethin behind me, i looked and it was a messed up rack 4 pointer, and well ive been huntin with a bow for 2 years and this being my 3rd, but that little joker walked RIGHT under my stand and had me shakin like crazy, about that time i saw a doe about 65 yards out. he fed for a little but then turned broadside and i came to full draw and POP! he ducked my arrow. man i was so mad. thats the 3rd time that happend to me, oh well. Everything happends for a reason.

sskybnd
Re: opening day here in NC dont you hate it what seems like a chip shot on the first deer of the season he ducks the arrow, thats the way i usealy start my season i know that for some reason or anther im going to miss the first shot, its happened every year for so long, ive come to expect it but after that first shot seems like i settle down, and can start making the shots its like i forget how to judge distance or something. Turkeygirl
Re: opening day here in NC Way to stick with it! that's the thing about bowhunting or hunting in general...you never know what's going to happen and when. I get a thrill just squirrel hunting and when a deer, even a doe comes out, the adrenaline goes crazy. At least now, you've got in the stand and seen some deer. Good luck and keep us updated! Guest madabouthuntin
Re: opening day here in NC My brother and I hit the woods early Saturday as well. I had a doe blow at me twice and run off. I caught a glimps of her and then her BIG fawn. I was still sitting still and the wind was blowing away from her. I don't know what she saw that she didn't like, but as I turned around from the two of them running I heard another one blow. I was able to see the hind end of this one as it took off into the thicket. I then heard another one blow a little further up near my brother. I found out later he blew getting a shot off at a nice doe. This is only his second year bow hunting and made a mistake and didn't draw soon enough. The combination of the deer near me and the doe already being skittish spooked it off before he could get a shot off. If he would have drew back when he first saw her he said he would have had her. Oh well.... We live and We learn. We saw nothing else the rest of the day except a buch of tree rats and birds. Good luck to everyone. Guest NCSUHunter829
Re: opening day here in NC Had the best mornin ever. I hunt 45 min from Charlotte. I saw 6 bucks (one good one) and twelve does. The bad part was that it was all before daylight(full moon) I could see them in the field and could here more in the woods to my right. I still don't know how many were there but for sure I saw eighteen. I saw one good bodied deer. I drew on him just to see if it was light enough too shoot but couldn't see nothing thru the sights. I settled for a doe at first light for some QDM on this new property I'm hunting. She clocked in at 90lbs so she is decent for around here. I'm in college so I'm goin home again this weekend to hunt again. There is a front comin thru and the moon will be better, hopefully have another mornin like openin day. I really want that bigger buck. Good Luck to you guys!
