ThethirdI
Re: question I personally wouldn't shoot one but I know of a few folks that would. I spoke with my local game warden just this past weekend and he said "I can't find any law anywhere in my book that says a hunter can't shoot a cat and besides that's just plain out of my jurisdiction." That is a direct quote. He said that after I told him about the P&Y that changed direction when it came across the cat that was ruining my buddies hunt last season. I say it's up to the person in the woods. You know what you can live with and what you can't.
stevebeilgard
Re: question it's up to the individual. feral kats kill rabbits and other very small animals. so do dogs. i've shot them both before.

mike
Re: question i say if its a one time deal seeing a cat let it go! i am no cat lover by any means, but it could be some kids pet that might wonder back home. if you see it all the time or lots of them it might be time to thin the herd!!! Exturkinator
Re: question oh I tear up just thinkin about it...... NOT. actually my biggest problem with shooting stuff like ferrel cats etc is that it gives up your position and alerts all creation as to your presence (I don't bow hunt)... buckee
Re: question [ QUOTE ] i dont shoot cats ive got 3 of them [/ QUOTE ] I've got a very nice cat at home too. I love the little critter, but that's where they belong...at home, not in the woods.

OJR
Re: question If I run into a cat or a dog in the woods, they are history! Those things that are roaming out there are more than likely feral cats or wild dogs and they are not good for anything! It is irresponsible owners who let them get this way! SUGARKAHNE
Re: question Funny-my dad just shot a cat in my backyard 10 minutes ago! It was a wild cat that had been beating my other 3 cats up for forever, so we decided to get rid of it. But the only time we kill them is if they're hurting my animals. ODH
Re: question Me and my dad always go by the rule of CATS DON'T BELONG IN THE WOODS! just my opinion, but out here were trying to get the pheasant population back up and cats just get in the way. wtnhunt
Re: question Have seen old barn cats while out hunting on many occasions, and let them walk. On the other hand I do see bobcats from time to time and have shot a few of them over the years.
007hunter
Re: question I'm not a cat lover either but I don't go around shooting animals just for the heck of it or to "save a few rabbits" Now if they are out of control then by all means thin them down but if you see one cat roaming around the entire season and shoot it, I just don't see how thats right. So I guess I'm middle of the road on this topic....
sskybnd
Re: question thats one thing i can say ive never seen while hunting and thats a cat, but i dont think i would shoot it, but now if there were more than one that might be a diffrent story, according to the animal planet show the domestic cat is the most killing cat there is becouse they kill for fun where most other cats kill for food. so id say to each his own.
