Re: **THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT (& related links)

Sorry the map link didnt work but the coordinates are good.

Here are the first fotos from my trip to set up the camper yesterday:

http://good-times.webshots.com/album/554811388xKAjwS

Notes for those attending:

1. The camper is set up 3.8 miles off of the Taylor Park Road. It's on the right of the road on a bluff overlooking the Texas Creek and is easy to find as you'll see from the fotos. Lots of room on two levels for more campers.

2. From Buena Vista it's 35.8 miles to the camper.

obviously 32 miles to Taykor Park. The PAVED road up the east side of the Divide from Buena Vista to Cottonwood Pass is VERY good in spite of recent snows. The DIRT road on the west side of the Divide from Cottonwood Pass to Taylor Park is almost very good. Wet, slippery mud, and a few bumps. Uphill is low gear with your camper, downhill to Taylor is 2nd gear. Lotsa curves goin down on the dirt side. When you get to the bottom turn right and then go about 1/2 mile to the Texas Creek sign then turn right again.

3. The road from Taylor Park in to Texas Creek is pretty rough and rocky and my 19' camper dragged it's back end a lot. Go slow so you dont tear up your equipment.

I hope you enjoy the fotos and find the place ok.

My dau and I will be there Fri late morn the 20th, we will have the cb on channel 12 in my Dodge truck and the FMRS radio (your hunting radios) on channel 12 also to listen for those needing info. We'll be tinkering on the camper and moving our stuff in so holler twice.

Good luck to all.

OK,, just getting things rounded up and packed,,, I just have one quick question,,, will anyone be close enough to Steve B. campsite, that will have a generator to charge up electronics and such and will anyone have a laptop along to burn Photo CD's from our camera's so we can document this trip ??

OK it was such a quick question.... grin.gif

Re: **THE GREAT COLORADO ELK HUNT (& related links)

I just talked to a guy that works for me and he is a veteran of Taylor Park area. He keeps his camper there alla time. He goes there a LOT. He saw moose just east of where my camper is parked recently.

SO...make sure when you have an elk in your crosshairs that it's really an E.L.K. Mistakes in Colo are very expensive.

[ QUOTE ]

I am bringing my laptop. I also have a converter that will run off of the truck battery to recharge batteries with.

I'll be there from the 18th to the 26th.. would there be any problem with me using these items ?? heck I would even be happy to pay a nominal fee if need be.... wink.gif

I just want to try and document as much of the hunt as I possibly can... smile.gifwink.gif

Almost fight time,, man I can't wait to get this trip going... smile.gifsmile.gif
