Chrud
What do you guys think of these two clowns? Some "experts" say they may have only been using the steroids for a little while, but that shouldn't mean anything, they STILL USED STEROIDS! Bonds' stories don't make any sense either. I think his homerun records and stats will and should be tainted. Cheater.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Bonds and Giambi i was never a big fan of Giambi's anywho..didn't have anything against him but didn't really care what he did or didn't do......aas for Bonds....i don't really care...in my eyes, he's still not huge like everyone thinks he is, yeah he's bigger than what he was when he first started but thats called workin out....besides...doing steroids doesn't mean you are gunna come out and start hammering baseballs out of the park...put arnold swarzen-however you spell it in the batters box when he was in his prime in weightlifting and i bet he could barely hit it into the middle of the outfield..if that....its all about hand eye coordination, making good contact with the ball....if size mattered then hank aaron wouldn't hold the record because he was half the size of bonds.....either way Bonds will be in the hall of fame. Chrud
Re: Bonds and Giambi The homerun issue was discussed on ESPNEWS. Steroids won't make you hit a homerun everytime, but they will make you hit that ball that would have been caught near the wall be over the fence. Guest Finn
Re: Bonds and Giambi F'm all... Nothing but cheaters. No enhancement drugs should ever be allowed...period Steroids turn above average players into great players. Won't make me hit a 95 mph fastball, but makes Barry Bonds crush one. dogdoc
Re: Bonds and Giambi [ QUOTE ] Shocking news. [/ QUOTE ] ain't that the truth. Bonds story--he is fo full of bull. He thought he was rubbing flaxseed oil on him and taking a vitamin supplement. He had absolutely no idea he was taking steroids--YEA RIGHT! buckbuster11
Re: Bonds and Giambi Bonds was a great player when he was skinny as a toothpick, and steroids does not help hand eye coordination and all of that...BUT steroids still had some effect and it is still cheating. Whats worse is that there are more players that are going to be found out sooner or later too. This whole thing disgusts me, I hope Bonds retires before he breaks Aarons record. fisherguy
Re: Bonds and Giambi I dunno, while using steroids would help with the homeruns, i am still not convinced he used them for long or knowingly. It looks more likely that he did, but that is why they should test them. BUt as far as his batting average, and the eye he has for making contact, and judging a pitch, no drug will help that. muggs
Re: Bonds and Giambi [ QUOTE ] I don't think that athletes should use steriods. I do have a few questions though. Do steriods make you hit the ball? Do they help you distinguish a ball and a strike? Do they turn a average player into a great player? The answers to these questions is no. Think about all the minor leaguers and major leaguers who used steriods and went nowhere. The number of unsuccessfull althletes who used steriods far outnumber those who do. Baseball is a sport that you need to be gifted at. There's no special pill/shot, whatever, that will make you great. The only thing that will is years and years of practice. [/ QUOTE ] That's true, but when you take an athlete that has the ability to hit a major league pitcher, and has the ability to tell the difference between a ball and a strike and genetically enhance him. He becomes a gifted athlete with super human strength. No doubt he'll hit more home runs.
slugshooter
Re: Bonds and Giambi I hate to jump to conclusions about all this, I mean, the excuse Bonds gave does seem a little pathetic and screams in the face of better judgement but I was talking to my fiance about it this morning and I told her that the more I hear about it and the more I think about it the more P.O.'d I get. I am a lifelong Braves fan and still think Dale Murphy was the greatest player ever, I know he isn't but I basically idolized him when I was a kid, if I had found out he used steroids I would have been devastated, just like some of the older guys would have been devastated to hear that Mickey Mantle used steroids. I read a column yesterday were the guy basically said he was wondering where our priorities were when we cared more about some basketball player who started a brawl cause he had beer dumped on him and noone seems to care about this steroid usage. Well, I for one am appalled that these athletes felt the need to use steroids and could care less what some ignorant basketball player feels the need to do. I have lost all or most respect for baseball at this point, Mantle didn't need steroids, or Aaron, or Ruth, or Gehrig or DiMaggio. Baseball needs to step up and punish everyone involved, they can't take away all the homers Bonds has hit over the last few years, but they can be forever tarnished, as they should be, Bonds has never been a friend to the media or the fans and that will come back to haunt him, because when he really needs people to stand behind him, he'll be all alone, with his tarnished records and his tarnished image. Bring back Dale Murphy and Don Mattingly and Rickey Henderson, guys who understood what it meant to play the guy and relied on their natural abilities rather than the hottest new liquid in a syringe.
