buckee
Re: $400 less wealthy thanks to a nice officer. Those stale yellow lights will get you every time. Yellow does mean "slow down and be prepared to stop", not "keep on truckin, it's not red yet" ...LOL Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

buckee
Re: $400 less wealthy thanks to a nice officer. I feel for ya, but they have a job to do too. They have to deal with all kinds of mouthy people all day long. It's a thankless job, but someone has to do it. When an officar pulls you over for a violation, the best thing to do is be polite, and keep the smart comments to yourself. Trust me, I'm older than you...LOL

For $300 you got to purchase a little of the officers time in listening to you make fun of him for obviously not being a hunter. I personally never understood why some states require people to sign the tickets. In NY we don't require a signature as if they are signing for a package, its more like "a gift" here. markyj987
Re: $400 less wealthy thanks to a nice officer. LOL swampy, same thing here... It's a pretty little pink gift too...like the 18th copy in a stack of carbon copies. It's fun trying to prepare for court when you can't even read what the thing says. Then again, for some reason I was always too stupid to try to get out of a ticket--for me it was usually speeding. Here's a typical exchange: Officer: Do you know why I pulled you over? Me: Speeding? Officer: Yeah, do you know how fast you were going? Me: No, but I'm pretty sure it was too fast. Right there, I'm stuck...no getting out of it. Every single time....lol
Shaun_300
Re: $400 less wealthy thanks to a nice officer. Man that sucks! Talk about bad luck. I have been really lucky with police, but I must say, they are very leaniant up here compared to down there. You won't get a ticket unless you actually went through a RED light, not yellow. I'm a fairly fast driver, as is most Canadians. Only time I got pulled over was for going 80 in a 50 zone, and I did a "rolling stop" in the same incident. It was a woman cop and she let me off clean. I thought I was done for.
Guest Dust
Re: $400 less wealthy thanks to a nice officer. Up until about a year ago I was a Deputy Sheriff here. The reason for the signatures on the tickets here are. You are not admitting guilt. You are basically signing the ticket as a bond. Getting a ticket is the same as an arrest. However by signing it you are saying that you will either show up for court or pay the fine. If not you loose your license since that is what you put up as bond when signing. If you don't sign then you are arrested and must post a cash bond at the jail to get out.

Yep, best thing to do when pulled over is be respectful and cooperative. Even if you do want to contest the ticket you will have to sign or be carted off to the jail. VTbowman
Re: $400 less wealthy thanks to a nice officer. Everytime I was pulled over I was planning on going to jail for sure. LOL I was glad to just get the ticket. "Yes sir, no sir", and signed away. "Thank god" was my feelings as he pulled away. I used to have a real heavy foot. Older age, mortgage, bills, wife and kids cured me of that.
