My son's cub scout answer

At the den meeting last night, they were going over safety when dealing with strangers.

They asked "what would you do if someone calls and asks for your mom (but she wasn't home)":

They got two funny answers:

1.

A) Tell them she is in the shower.

Q) The den leader asked "well, what if they ask for your Dad instead and he isn't home either?

A) The kid said "tell them Dad's in the shower with MOM! laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

2.

Then my brilliant and funny son had the funnyest answer of all (IMHO)....he said:

Well, you could just pretend to be that answering machine thing that comes on and says "DUOOH DOOOH DOOOH, the person you are trying to reach isn't available right now, please try your call again later" laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

Re: My son\'s cub scout answer

Clay,

My son is starting out as a bobcat and should have his wolf by Christmas.

Cub scouts is one of the best organizations for young boys...even if it is expensive and a pain at times with all the meetings and activities. I can see huge changes in him and his behavior already after just two meetings.

I am a two time winner of the pine wood derby....1st and 2nd place so I am looking forward to doing that with him.

The sad thing is that I am the only father that has shown up to any of the meetings or functions yet. I guess Dad's are having to work longer hours to make ends meet because they all say Dad is working tonight.

Re: My son\'s cub scout answer

Oops, I said Bear in my post. I meant Wolf. Next year my youngest will be old enough for Tiger Cubs and then i'll have both boys in scouting.

I took 1st in my pine wood derby too. I stayed in all the way to the end of Webelos. I had one requirement left to get my Arrow of light and I decided not to go on to Boy Scouts.

We're fortunate here in that this pack is very father intensive. We see a couple of moms at each pack meeting if a dad can't make it for some reason. My pack when I was a kid was pretty much a Den Mother lead deal because everyones dads worked shift work in the taconite mines. Most of the folks in my neighborhood now are M-F nine-to-fivers so it's easier for the Dad's to get involved.

Re: My son\'s cub scout answer

Lol, thats funny new. I agree that the Cub/Boy Scout program is outstanding as long as good leadership and council representation are in place. I went all the way to Eagle. Scouting has shaped a lot of my values and personality traits - and created some memories I'll never forget traveling across the country and working 7 summers at my council's camp.
