Tony
Re: Would you?? i would have to pass also. i think you did the right thing. i mean if you nailed him slightly off center , then the arrow is going only into 1 lung, liver and then guts . with no exit hole at all a animal can run a long way on 1 lung. i do not like guts and meat together... if you center punch him, then you must break the breast bone with your shot and that will still leave you with no exit hole and a lot less penetration. sometimes the animal just wins.. it happens.. thats why we bowhunt... nhbowhunter
Re: Would you?? I have to agree with Tony. I had many shot opportunities like this on elk before I got a good clean shot and put one on the wall. I don't like taking chances, with my equipment, safety, or when it comes to making a shot. Sometimes you eat the bear... other times the bear eats you. That is hunting and part of what keeps me going back for more. You must have been so PUMPED to have an elk at 25yds. What an awesome feeling to see and experince that! Then to go home analyze everything and even though you may have done EVERYTHING right the bull did it's own thing... Makes you want to go out and try again... doesn't it!?!?!?!

wtnhunt
Re: Would you?? Just dont think so, especially not with a bow. Good chance the animal is going to turn and offer a good broad side shot. I am taking my chances on having my bow drawn waiting for the broad side shot. hoosierhunter47
Re: Would you?? i would say try and be patient, but ive never had a bull like that infront of me . you loosse the % of a kill shot will a bow, no double lunger, or you risk still hitting the front shoulders, be patient if its meant to be he'll turn on you or be back tommorow. rifleman25
Re: Would you?? I shot a raghorn 4x4 in sw Wyo two years ago that gave me this same shot at 40 yards. I aimed for where the neck meets the briskit in the center. My bull ran down hill about 70 yards and fell into a pile. My arrow cut almost all the veins and arterys on the top of the heart, sliced one lung in two and went through the liver and diaphram. My arrow was lodged under the skin right in from of the hind quarter. I had a massive blood trail fron right where he stood, to right where I watched him fall. I would take that same shot again in a heart beat. As long as you know your equipment, and trust your shooting then it s as good as a sure thing. bulldawg
Re: Would you?? I just wouldn't feel comfortable taking that shot with my bow. I'd drop him in a heartbeat with a rifle, but he'd walk away, or turn broadside for my shot to happen. That's just my thing though...everyone needs to do what you're comfortable doing.
