Guest madabouthuntin Posted September 12, 2006 Report Share Posted September 12, 2006 After only seeing the glimps of a few deer opening day (this past Saturday) and my brother missing his oportunity to take a doe I had to go out Monday after work. I climbed into my stand about 5 pm after checking a nice rub made last week and freshing up my mock scrape. I was in the stand for just over an hour when I had a deer answe my grunt call (Buck Growl by mad calls... best sounding grunt I've heard). This deer grunted to me 3 times. I thought someone was messing with me. Then I heard the steps and saw her movement. She stepped out into my lane and I let her have it! She had at least 2 other deer with her. I saw one and heard the other. Both on opposite sides of her. I used a 100 grain Sonic Pro broadhead on a Beman ICS hunter 400 @ 70lb pull. The arrow went through her, the leaves and twigs and such and 5 inches into the dirt! Just about nothing feels better than to take a deer that you called in. Good Luck to all this season.
