Wow this is a unique post lol....I have a question...I was driving down the road next to my house and I saw this little 3 point...At the time I happened to be eating Ranch Doritos lol ....I stopped and talked to him - as funny as that sounds - i threw one at him and hit him with it...he leaned down smelt it and ran off!!! It was hilarious...just wandering if anyone else has a story like this one... grin.gif

Re: Have you ever!?

I was checking my trail camera one day...and I heared this hi pitched baahhaaa sound and the brush moving. These two fawns came out of the brush towards me. I SWEAR in my mind I was thinking..."are these wild deer actually going to walk up to me so I can pet them?" They were looking at me and one stopped while the other kept coming. At about 3 yards it stopped, then turned and bolted. I actually was beginning to think it was going to come up to me.

Re: Have you ever!?

I've done similar things on a bunch of different occasions lol. We have several areas around here where the deer are use to seeing people on a constant basis and they interact rather well lol.

I have asked does for directions, I've asked little bucks if they could tell me where their grandfather is, all sorts of different things.

I actually walked to within 4 feet of a couple of bedded does one time before they decided I was too close and took off, thankfully the other way.

Re: Have you ever!?

We usually have a few deer hang around our parking lot here at work. About 3 weeks ago 3 doe and a 6 point are out there. I go out to check them out and decide to see how close I can get.

Well for the first time in my hunting days I saw deer at play. (know how a dog spins when you play with them???) well that what I saw. Looked like they were playing tag...lol

The 2 of them started sparring with their front legs...what a site to see.

Re: Have you ever!?

You hit a deer with a dorito?...lol thats funny. Closest to that was after we were hanging a stand one day, my buddy Ron was walking ahead of us about 10 ft. and he spooked a huge doe. She turned and bolted and I thought he was going down....she turned at the last second to miss nailing him. funniest thing ive ever seen.

Re: Have you ever!?

I had a small yearling come up on me several years ago while I was gun hunting. I had one of my flintlock muzzleloaders that is about 62 inches long and I was sitting on the backside of an oak tree. I could just barely see around the tree but my muzzle was sticking out there, I had it rested on my knee. Anyhow, the yearling saw the muzzle sticking out and kept on walking and sniffing the air. It actually touched the end of my barrel with it's nose, then it saw me and it looked like it almost turned itself inside out turning and running away...

Re: Have you ever!?

A couple of weeks ago I was out on the 4wheeler picking some apples at the edge of a field with a small 8pt feeding in it. I circled around the buck as to try not to alarm it to greatly, but to my surprise he trotted after me and I was able to get off the atv (still running), sweet talk him closer and feed him some of my apples at about 5 ft away. I would say he ate about a half dozen apples and then walked away to continue feeding in the field. Had to say the best part was that my girlfriend was riding with and could not beleive what we saw and how curious the buck was.

I will have to bring some doritos next time, and some for me too. grin.gif

Re: Have you ever!?

in 2004 I was gun hunting. I noticed something moving through teh fir tree about 60 yds away. I got down on one knee, raised my rifle, and waited. I doe and yearling popped out in front of me. She immediately noticed me and cautiously walked closer and closer to me sniffing and staring, she eventaully stretched out her nose and nudged the end of my rifle... I softly said "Boo!" and she nearly jumped out of her skin.

Re: Have you ever!?

If you go up by St. Germain, Wisconsin you can talk to wild deer up there also. My parents vacation up there and when I would go with them, or visit in recent years, you can pull up next to a deer in a ditch at talk to it. Or if you are on a walk you can walk right up to the deer and start talking. Most of the time they won't run either.

Re: Have you ever!?

I was horseback riding with my dad and uncle about 6 years ago and we came upon a fawn being attacked by dogs on the shore of a river. We ran the dogs off and my dad carried the deer back in his arms (fawn was about 1-5 days old). It was injured on it's neck and ears but not too bad so we called the Warden to come pick it up. It was cool having a little deer running around inside the house, it was suprisingly not very timid, i guess because it was so young and didn't know any better. It was a buck that might be a trophy today.
