Guest Andrea
Who all lives on a dirt road? We have been trying to gets ours paved for a long time now. Seems like we are the last road in the whole county that isn't paved. A petition was passed around to get it paved and 2 people refuse to sign it. ( In order for the county to pave this road they have to be granted "right-of-way" by all the owners on the road.) They think it will raise their property taxes. And one of them thinks it will create run-off on their property. ( They don't even live on this road) But there is no evidence to support that idea. Really ticks me off that 2 people can prevent a road from getting paved.
unioncountyslayer
Re: Live on a dirt road?? Not yet! But in about a month when I close on my land I'll be living on a dirt road for a little while.
wtnhunt
Re: Live on a dirt road?? Lived on a clay road in Florida for several years. Used to be about .8 of a mile of chert gravel road coming to our driveway which is about a quarter of a mile of gravel. The county put in what I guess was called a "tarred and chipped" layer over the gravel road not long after we bought the property, but I still maintain about a quarter of a mile of gravel drive. Thats part of living in the country. [/ QUOTE ] Well, you might feel differently if you had a road like ours. Everytime it rains, it leaves huge gorges across the road in many places. Never mind the fact that teenagers find it humorous to spin doughnuts at the end of the road EVERY SINGLE day which creates a permanent rut that makes driving a nightmare. Also...........I just hate having to wash my truck all the flippin time.

Strut10
Re: Live on a dirt road?? Pretty much all of my life.......yep. At least now I've urbanized myself. At least now the dirt road I live on doesn't have grass growing up in the middle. Just like DOWN-TOWN!!!

Guest Andrea
Re: Live on a dirt road?? Clay roads are horrible. If it rains it's bad. If it doesn't rain...........it's worse. The dust is so bad. Everything in our yard gets a thick orange coat of dust on it. Then the road will get so bumpy you have to geta front end alignment on a regular basis. If you don't beleive me.......read my "book".
VTbowman
Re: Live on a dirt road?? I do and love it just the way it is. I would not sign either. I moved way out to the sticks to live like this, I dont want pavement. Plus its easier to track deer prints across the road that way. RangerClay
Re: Live on a dirt road?? I live on a dead end dirt road. AND I LOVE IT!! Sawyer Brown did a song about Dirt Roads that really sums it up for me.

rifleman25
Re: Live on a dirt road?? No dirt, but I have lived on a gravel road all my life. If they every wanted to pave it I'd put up a fight. I'm the second of two houses on this road amd doubt I'll ever see it paved. Love living in the river hills. Ambuscher
Re: Live on a dirt road?? bout 100 yrds. worth. Up until about two or three years ago we had a state highway not far from here that was still dirt. They finally paved it, now they call it the highway to nowhere. Only good thing about it is that it is the highway to the public land that I hunt on. Now I can leave work and be in the woods in about 15 mins. instead of 45 mins. archerjg
Re: Live on a dirt road?? I live on a dirt road always have and always will. Way too expensive to get the road paved it is almost $15,000 a person in my neighborhood. Sorry to hear that you aren't able to get your road paved. Can't you just pass those two by if everyone else wants the road paved. Archerjg
