Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I am getting a rifle barrell in 300 win. mag. for my encore for x-mas. what power scope would be good for this caliber? i don't really have any place where i hunt where the shot will be over 300 yards (if even that far)....would a 3-9x40 be ok or should i get something with more power? thanks in advance MBH_SQ2
VTbowman
Re: Scope for 300 win. mag Well its JMO but get as large a front objective as you can afford. Thats what gives you light gathering ability. Good for last light in over cast conditions of late season hunts. The power setting (3-9) you listed should be fine for 300 yards and under. robk
Re: Scope for 300 win. mag look at the bushnell or the burris scopes as well as the nikon and look for a scope that is between 88% light transmission and up. i have the buckmaster form nikon and it is a bright scope and next year it will be on my black powder gun and i am looking at the bushnell elite 3200 or the legend or i may go with the burris full field which is another good scope and is well over 90% light transmission and all that i have stated are excellent for clarity. and they don't break your pocketbook either rob k
