Guest Mason
Re: cheep broadheads When you go to a high quality sporting goods store expect to pay a little for their knowlege and advice. The only time i shop for hunting equipment at walmart is when I know exactley what I want. If not I will go to a retailer like Bass Pro or Cabelas. VTbowman
Re: cheep broadheads [ QUOTE ] Walmart buys in such big volume they force the retailer to sell them products cheaper than they do to other stores. [/ QUOTE ] This is exactly why. Walmart buys a huge amount of the product at really low prices and can afford to not charge as much as the other guys do. Just because its at walmart does not mean its cheap ( poorly made or not quality) Some of it is though so beware. Know the product your buying before you buy. Like the other guy posted. If you know all about the products your wanting and looking for and can do it yourself then check walmart for the lower price 1st. If your wanting service or experience go to a pro shop. Even those catolog stores can give poor advice and sell cheap and poorly made items... JMO

tedicast
Re: cheep broadheads When you shop at a Walmart, you are shopping at Walmart...lol. When you go to a Cabelas. or a Bass Pro, the surrounding make it more then just shopping. Someone has to pay for that...guess who?
rifleman25
Re: cheep broadheads Rifle and shotgun ammunition is about the only thing I won't go strictly to a pro shop for. oldblue
Re: cheep broadheads And you believe everything you read on the internet forums? That could be a big mistake. My advice is to buy where you know what you are getting whether that is Bass, Gander Mtn, Wal-Mart or where ever, but know what you are buying. Want advice go to someone you know and trust, that will give you good straight how it is advice. I would not ask the Wal-Mart employee for advice, nor would I ask the Gander Mtr, etc employee for advice, but I have friends and hunting companions who I trust to give me good advice. Have fun. Jeramie
Re: cheep broadheads They nailed it above. There is pretty much a Walmart in every town. When they buy broad heads they buy them for most of their stores. Buying in Volume will save you $$. There are FAR fewer BP shops. When they stock something such as BH's they order far less therefore having to pay a higher price. Walmarts stability is in Volume of sales. If you sale 10,000 of a product making $1.25 your going to make far more than you would selling 1,000 at $4 profit. Btw, I noticed the titanium BH's (new product) were roughly $14 at wally world and over $20 at BP. I smell what you're cooking. In the end its the exact same product. Id go with the majority on big decisions but for opinions and real world experience places such as this cant be beat. Many of the members here are Experts, realistically. Ask AJ, hangunner anything about guns. Ask Tony about bows, etc. Thats a very short list. There is a TON of information here that is both accurate and responsable.... There are a ton more Wally Worlds than Cabela's, Bass Pro, or Gander Mountains!
Guest bucknutt
Re: cheep broadheads i bought a gun from walmart, rem 870, good gun but i took it dove hunting and we camped out, left the gun in the back of my truck in the casee and the next morning it was covered with a real light rust. i took it to the local gun guy and showed him the gun and he said he'd put a $100 bill he could tell me where i got the gun w/o me tellin him. he said walmart buys 'cheaper' guns from the same manufacturer, just made cheaper so they rust easier and so on. don't know if there's any truth to this but he must have been pretty confident to put the $100 on it. Think about the number of Wally Worlds around. Its simple math, if they buy 50,000 shotguns and BP buys 5,000 Walmart will get the better pricing. Its all about Volume Discounting....... There was a rumor floating around for years about Walmart using sub par stuff. Ive seen far to many sources and even asked a buddy who did work in the Sports Section. Everyone seems to think a competitor started the rumor to boost their sales. I cant remember but I think this was on Snopes at one time. Also its basic economics... Walmart is made famous by the System Ole Sammy boy setup, just like Henry Ford was associated to the Assembly Line.

I think they are just talking about why Wal-Mart can offer items much cheaper than other stores that special in hunting items. Its volume discounting as Jeramie stated. Same quality too, Wal-mart does not get 2nds or rejects, they would lose customers fast if they did!!
