Guest Mason
Question for you guys. I have had trouble in the last couple of years with some people who are running dogs on my property. I asked them nicely the first time, but this did not help. I would not have cared originaly because I do not like coyotes, but they were doing it during deer season which to be honest angered me. Since then it has happed four subsiqent times and have contacted the DNR, but by the time I call the DNR these trespassers are already gone. Having experience with dogs I do understand that you can not always control where they go but how should I resolve this problem.
ousoonerfan22
Re: coyote hunting You are going to have to get them for trespassing because for some you have to get into their pocketbook to teach them a lesson.
Guest ronin
Re: coyote hunting Depending upon your state, you can detain them until the police arrive and they are cited. That causes a confrontational issue a lot of people don't want to deal with. However, it is exactly what I do with a troublesome trespasser. The other way to deal with it is track down their vehicle and get the license plate, then take pictures of them while they are in the process of jumping your fence or on your property already. Turn the info over to your local deputy or fish and game person and file charges. Just make sure your property line fits your state penal code. ousoonerfan22
Re: coyote hunting I knew a guy that bought some property and couldn't keep the trespassers off of it so he's the one that said you have to get into their pocketbook. So not only did he have them wrote up for trespassing when he caught them he would have their truck towed if he didn't find them. captkb44
Re: coyote hunting We had a problem with some guys running hogs with dogs on our place. We put the word out that any dog caught on our place would disappear. Then the local game warden put the word out that if they got caught the would loose their dogs, trucks and everything else they had with them. Needless to say it stopped happening on our place. ricfirefighter
Re: coyote hunting before ya follow rifleman's advise make sure they are doing it on purpose i use to raise dogs for hunting yotes and never purposly trespassed but if anybody would have shot one of my dogs for an honest mistake they would have way more trouble then they could handle. even if they are doing it on purpose its not the dogs fault but i guess shoting the dog is the easy way if you dont have guts enough to deal with the people that are at fault. bowtech
Re: coyote hunting i agree with ricfirefigter........i do a lot of rabbit hunting and our dogs will coccasionally go on property where we dont have permission and if some one was to shot it .,they wpould be in a world of trouble good dogs are hard to come by.your best bet is to try sand catch them in the act and get the gamewarden there

wtnhunt
Re: coyote hunting Have had problems with dogs running deer here and neighbors deliberatley letting their dogs run loose during the deer season. Coyotes are legal here year round, so are coydogs, dogs are never legal unless they are attacking you. My opinion wild dogs and coydogs are sometimes hard to differentiate, if it is not wearing a collar and I am able to, I am taking it out.
