StillLearnin
I finally figured out why I was having trouble loading pics (files too large). So here it is. I have had this rifle for a number of years and finally decided to do something with it. I put a boyds thumbhole stock on it and also had the trigger lightened to about 2.25 lbs. It doesn't sound like a lot but it took all summer to get the stock. I ordered it on may 18th and it finally got to the house the 1st week of August. The trigger started out pretty good with no creep or overtravel but had about 6.5 lbs of pull. Next summer I plan to put a new scope on it. Not sure what just yet something in the $300 range. I would also like to have the bolt rejeweled and a tacticle knob installed. Anyways enough yapping heres the pic.

AJ
Re: My Remington 700 project So, how does it shoot? Did you bed the action?
ousoonerfan22
Re: My Remington 700 project Did you get the factory trigger down to 2 1/4 lbs or switch to another trigger?
StillLearnin
Re: My Remington 700 project Oh ya sorry, I was also steel bedded and the barrel fully floated. and it is still the factory trigger. I took it out once since I got it back from the gunsmith and put two shots through it to see if see was anywhere close to where it should be. Nope. With the sweet rolling down my face and getting into my eyes I figured my time at the farm was better spent fishing. When it cools down I'll sight it in. I'm also anxious to use the new shooting table I built. I'll keep you posted.

Jeramie
Re: My Remington 700 project Thing of beauty! I love the 700. Those rifles can easily shoot better than I can.

StillLearnin
Re: My Remington 700 project It is a 30-06 I usually shoot winchester 165gr. soft points but am going to sight it in this time around with remington 150 gr. core locks. By the way does anyone know if the winchester ammo is still made in the good ole USA?
Jeramie
Re: My Remington 700 project Not sure about the ammo. I had a Rem 700 in the 30-06 too. It wasn't as pretty as yours.... I shot the Corelokts too. I shot 180grn for years and eventually dropped to 150grn. Very deadly round. I had a lot of luck in accuracy with them too....
