Guest Nightsblood
My foam is wearing out and I need to build a more permanant arrow backstop. Should I stick with foam, or try straw bails? Or is there another option?
Tony
Re: Good Backstop Material? you could try one of the Morell or Delta dead stop bag targets. i have a delta deadstop and its lasted for 3 years of hard shooting. i have a repaceable center deer target i use for testing broadheads. other than that i cant really suggest anything else, that wouldnt take a lot of time to make. many of the new broadhead targets like the Block work very well for short term. but if your really going to shoot a lot a bag target lasts a long time. Canuck2
Re: Good Backstop Material? If you are looking for something to stop errant arrows (i.e., off target), you might be able to get hold of an old hot tub lid from a business there. I have one and it has prevented a lot of searching time for arrows launched by many students in the high school club here. For lighter weight bows, opened out fully is fine but for compounds at hunting poundages, it needs to be folded in half to stop passthroughs. You need the complete unit - vinyl outer cover as well as styrofoam inner portion.
