oo_buck
Re: Nice Rule I was in the room with him when he made this post. I was also in the room with him when he signed in a couple of weeks ago to work on his post count. (He was using my computer.) I will say that I understand why he posted it, after reading the reception he got from some of the "Veterans" on this board. He didn't exactly get what I'd call a warm welcome around here. I know why the limit was set, and I think he does too. I have been on more than my share of teams with "one timers", who never showed up again. THAT SUCKS. I also know that the team he was on for last year's deer contest finished in second place, partly because of his contribution. If he's banned from the contest, it ain't gonna hurt his feelings. Real cool of some of you to assume a low post count automatically means he won't participate. If he's allowed to enter the contest, and if and when he scores, he'll post. I don't look for him to be hanging out online here for a while. Especially since he has to use someone else's computer to log on. Good Night. I don't look for him to be hanging out online here for a while. [/ QUOTE ] So he's not a contributing member? Thats exactly what the 50 post rule was for. If he wouldn't have killed a deer last year...would he have replied to his teamates? Let them know how his hunting was going? I think that is all most folks want...they don't want someone on their team that don't keep in touch. Participate means to visit and check in with your teamates...not just show up to sign up, post your picture then wait til next years contest. These are a few examples of how a "fun" contest gets ruined and the reason why I didn't sign up this year.
Swamphunter
Re: Nice Rule I agree with the others that he does come off sounding like he is upset about it and only here for the contest and will not participate in the forums. Attitudes like that is what will ruin the chances of the mods running these "fun" contests for us. In my opinion the post count should be much higher. wtnhunt
Re: Nice Rule [ QUOTE ] If it were up to me, you wouldn't have the opportunity to make post #53. The rule was put in place because there is a history of people entering and never posting again, leaving there team at a disadvantage. Don't like it? Don't participate. [/ QUOTE ] Very well said. The contest is a realtree forums member contest. Would be great to encourage more new members to come in and stick around, NOT just for the sole purpose of entering a contest. This really is a great place. Too bad there has been some every year to just come in and sign up to never show up again. Hopefully the post rule will help weed out some of those. [ QUOTE ] I also know that the team he was on for last year's deer contest finished in second place, partly because of his contribution. [/ QUOTE ] Dont recollect him being on the team I was on last year, but maybe I am wrong. The team I was on came in second place, and we potentially missed winning because a kid who was not a regular here did not follow the rules and take the pics he was supposed to. But hey it is all in good fun, and no hard feelings towards that participant, just too bad he did not hang around. With whatever happens, I am sure Gary will do what he feels is right given this type of attitude.
BowJoe
Re: Nice Rule That's why I said it should not only be judged by post count (which I think should be 100) but also on content. If he post one word answers and about 40 post in one night then I say you gotta participate and not grunt your way in. Besides, his 52nd post was a complaint about the first 51. Guest Finn
Re: Nice Rule [ QUOTE ] Real cool of some of you to assume a low post count automatically means he won't participate. [/ QUOTE ] Is he wanting to participate on the Realtree forums or just be a guy who signs up for the contest? On my team, I'd rather have someone who posts about how the hunts are going and shoots a doe or gets skunked over a guy/gal who posts twice a year and shoots a 12 pointer (if they only post to enter the contest and show a picture of the deer) Where I place in the contest doesn't matter...having fun and meeting new folks is the deal. MCH
Re: Nice Rule I tell you what may work along with the 50 post rule..... Giving every team member 2 weeks to find their team and then post a simple "I'm here". If that doesn't happen....replace them with a reserve. We always have members that forget to join. Use them to get rid of those that won't participate. And BTW...don't put this type of rule in THE rules. Let this be something that is common sense. Tony
Re: Nice Rule but Kevin common sense isnt always the rule. we see it here a lot. i would like to see everyone that wants to be in the contest to join. i would then wish that they would become active with and participate with there team members. i also could care less if the guy shoots a huge buck and only posts once or twice. give me a guy or gal that posts a lot and works hard and lets us know how there season is going. that is what this contest really is for. so that forum members to get to know others that maybe they wouldnt know at all.
