State Park Controlled Hunts (prices?)

Several states I've heard have controlled hunts on either state park land or municipal areas and charge a hunter to thin the deer population out (usually with bow). A hunter may pay a non-returnable "application fee" and then if drawn pays $20-50 for a usual two-day hunt. I was wondering what is some of y'alls hunts and prices? TIA

Re: State Park Controlled Hunts (prices?)

They had one around here about 20 years ago. It was at the Harriman State Park in Orange County, NY. The hunt was like 3 days long and bow only and they only killed about 100 deer. The hunt would have been longer, but all the anti's complained too much so they shut it down and haven't proposed anything since.

The deer inside that state park are really small and inferior compared to the deer found elsewhere. The deer population is just way over the carrying capacity of the land.

Ours are free. You have to fill out the application and turn it in by a certain date and they draw for it. I have applied 1 time for a deer and drawn and 3 times for quail and drawn.

Virginia has a PRE season bow hunting season called Urban Archery Season. We have one county up here that allows it. Fairfax county is a heavily built up county with patches of woods all around as well as neighborhoods with 2 to 5 acres. (rough numbers) Because there are so many Auto Hits on deer...the county allows you to hunt private Urban properties. In neighborhoods even. It is stressed to stay low key though. Don't want to be dragging a dead deer across the lawn in the morning past a lady still in curlers, walking Fido.

(permission is needed of course)
