265 Inch Texas Whitetail

Saw this on another site and haven't seen mention of it here yet. Definately one freakin' small whitey eh?

The story:

"Scores 266. 37 points. This buck was shot last week at Camp Bullis which

is one of the training areas connected to Fort Sam Houston. Texas Parks

and Wildlife indicates that this appears to be the second largest deer

(point wise) in the state of Texas. It is the largest in the last 100

years. Everybody and their dog is out at Bullis looking at this buck. Three taxidermy have offered to mount it for free.

We have had game specialists stop to see the buck. They say this could be

the second largest score in Texas and maybe the largest in the last 100

years. The head when mounted could be worth about $25K from what we are

told. It scored 265 points in Boone & Crockett.

The buck was seen by helicopter in the area of gun stand #77.The pilot

radioed to operations and reported that a severely wounded buck (was

dragging his hind section) was observed and gave the coordinates.

Operations was notified and responded with a small search team. They found

the buck and verified it was severely injured (appeared to have a broken

back). The search team destroyed the animal. It weighed 118 lbs, had a 21

3/4 inside spread, and had 40 measurable points"

HELP US WITH THE MYSTERY BUCK

Never know what you're getting on the Internet these days, but we had to share this photo of a really sick looking specimen. All we know about the monster is that was sent to one of our staffers via email. With a note that read something like this: Here's a buck of lifetime. It was seen by helicopter in the area of gun stand #77. The 'copter pilot radioed to operations reporting that a severely wounded buck dragging his hind section was located. The pilot noted the buck's coordinates and operations - headed by some fellow named Andy - assembled a small search team. The buck was found by the team and indeed looked as though it was suffering from a broken back. The team took the animal out of its misery. Allegedly, the buck weighed in at 118 pounds, sported a 21 ¾-inch spread and had a rack with 40 measurable points. Please help Team Realtree get to the bottom of this mystery. Email us with any information at [email protected]. -- TR

Re: 265 Inch Texas Whitetail

I don't think there is any way that that buck could score anywhere close to 265...just my opinion, If this deer weighed so little, that rack just may look big, you can do an awful lot to make a rack look huge:

This buck: Big Eight

Looks great in the photo but I have the score, and I think a picture can do an awful lot.

By the way, what do you guys think this buck scores?

I'll let you know tomorrow! Take a guess!
