Guest KS_jon
Ok, so I go to the state park I will be hunting this year to scout some placs to Hang a stand. I find two really awesome places just begging for a stand, but after glancing around at the nearby trees, I find tree steps already in the tree of my picking and at the other spot two stands are already hanging. I found two other spots so far to hang one, but the poison ivy is unreal all over the ground all over the trees. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how to deal with this stuff? Im not sure if im allergic to it or not, i've never had it, but never played in the stuff either. Can I cut it at the bottom of the tree and pull it off? Any advice appriciated.. If not guess ill just hunt from the ground.

DU_man_84
Re: Poison Ivy as far as i know i am immuned to poison ivy cause ive been threw it a few times and never got it, my suggestions would be if you really want to hang that stand there, i would go back with long pants, long shirt gloves and prolly wear a face mask cause you dont know how you could react to it and yeah i would cut it at the bottom of the tree and pull it all off thats whay i would do to get rid of it, and when your done playing no matter what go home and wash up just in case you might have had contact with the ivy, thats about all i really can say
OUTSIDER
Re: Poison Ivy you have to be careful when dealing with that stuff, espically when pulling the vines off a tree. You can get an airborn form of the rash in your lungs....from the small particles dislodged from the tree. The oil from the leaves is what makes you itch, I myself am luckey, i dont get it, i can weedeat that stuff and not get it. I would cover completely up, pull it off, hope for some rain to wash the tree down some. When you go home wash with DAWN dish detergent. Whatever you do...dont wash with moistureizing soap. It will embed the oils deeper in your skin. And if you do get an outbreak, make you someoatmeal and put it on there, it will draw out the fluid out of the bumps. Good luck chief!! Guest KS_jon
Re: Poison Ivy A guy I talked to said what he does is, cut all the vines at the bottom, tie them to a rope, and pull on the rope to kinda stay away. I may try this technique.
Hoyt03
Re: Poison Ivy I get it only on my fingers every year around this time. Just got some last week thats still around. Only on the fingers though. Sometimes its just unavoidable. If your allergic be careful hanging those stands.
