Ravin R10 man
Well the bowhunting opener was exciting, passed on a 130 class 10 pt Sat eve. tines were a bit short and his g-3's were only 1 inch..spread was about 17? Last eve, an 8 pt came through, again just not a shooter this year. still know there is a better buck out there..will have to wait, maybe my luck will change. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: close, but not able to connect great to see a buck even if they don't give you a shot, the big thing is you seen him and he didn't know you were there! revhard
Re: close, but not able to connect how much land do you have for you to be able to manage. we have a 1400 acre farm that we are hunting this year and it will be the second year we are passing on bucks 16 inches and smaller. according to the trail cams we have kinda noticed a difference in the bucks being bigger this year. but its hard to tell. how small of a tract have any of you guys managed and seen results
Guest MattA311
Re: close, but not able to connect 1400 is way more than enough to manage. I say anything 300 or more. If you have the food on your land they will stay there and not move.

Good lesson here for the baby killers. [/ QUOTE ] All deer are trophies. Anyone that doesn't believe that shouldn't be hunting at all. Your "baby killer" comment was inappropriate. QDM is a personal choice. It should NEVER be forced on anyone. You talk about freedom to hunt, freedom to own guns, etc. well, part of hunting is the freedom to CHOOSE what to shoot, within the law. A trophy is in the eye of the beholder. What animal to harvest is a matter of personal choice and should be respected.

QDM and shooting a little one don't do hand in hand. Anyone can shoot any thing they want. Why would want to shoot a 120 inch deer though when you have a very real chance to shoot a 165 inch deer? I'm not forcing QDM on anyone. I was simply congratulating Onida Man on making a good choice as that deer will grow int something great. Look how tight the skin is around the neck, no roman nose, no belly, no sway back, All tell tale signs of a buck that hasnt reached maturity yet. I understand that the trophy is in the eye of the beholder and will congratulate anyone on any deer killed. I just simply stated that he made the right choice. Obviously if he was willing to let that buck walk he knows he has the chance to kill a truely great buck. My mentor and western big game hunting partner Kirt Darner told me "if you are not willing to pass on the small ones, and even the pretty decent good ones your chances of killing a giant are very slim". I was simply just stating the fact that by letting this buck walk it will be a magnificant trophy in 2 years. I didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm sorry if I did.
