hunterfisherman
How bout them colts. If they could only do that in the playoffs I would be a happy man
muggs
Re: Colts This might be there year. With every passing year, Peyton is just gonna keep getting better and better. There's some good teams they'll have to beat, I think the Patriots are gonna be really tough with that two-headed running attack and the Bengals offensives is really impressive too. dogdoc
Re: Colts For the past several years the Colts have always looked like the team to beat---kind of like the Bills of the 90's or the Vikings of the 70's---just can't seem to get it done at the end. However--they'd be my favorite right now. Baltimore is looking mighty tough also. They finally have an offense to go with their defense. todd

buckbuster11
Re: Colts From what I see from Indy right now, the are a little lesser of a team then they were last year. They can't run the ball, and they arent stopping it on defense. That will not get you through the AFC playoffs. You better be able to do both or the New Englands, Baltimores, and Pittsburghs will kill you. Now, alot can change between now and then but as it stands right now I would not have them as one of my favorites in the AFC.

I know their numbers look good...but they haven't played anybody yet. my Browns are their next opponent...so I guess we'll have to wait until week 4 before they show their true colors. I think the teams to watch in the AFC are the Bengals, Colts, Chargers, and Steelers--->in that order.
buckbuster11
Re: Colts And who has Indy played? The Texans...who they gave up what 24 points? And if the Giants could of gotten out of their own way in the opener Indy would of lost that game. Either way you look at it, what has Indy done to improve themselves from last year or the year before when they did NOT make the big game? Nothing. So what makes you think they are going now? Its still the same offense, minus one of the best backs in the league, that has been shut down every single January this decade (see New England and Pittsburgh). muggs
Re: Colts [ QUOTE ] And who has Indy played? The Texans [/ QUOTE ] well Charlie, they beat one of the better teams in the NFC....so now you're saying the Colts only look good because they've been playing bad teams...how do you explain the last, oh, I don't know 5+ years. [ QUOTE ] Either way you look at it, what has Indy done to improve themselves from last year or the year before when they did NOT make the big game? Nothing. So what makes you think they are going now? [/ QUOTE ] Umm...the fact that Manning has another year under his belt and he's that much better. [ QUOTE ] Its still the same offense, minus one of the best backs in the league, [/ QUOTE ] umm...you don't really need a marque back in that type of offense, anyway, Addai and Rhodes are good enough to get it done. [ QUOTE ] that has been shut down every single January this decade (see New England and Pittsburgh). [/ QUOTE ] umm...neither one of those teams have the defense they once did. Maybe, the Steelers, but the Colts will be able to put up more points than them...that is unless the refs decide it for Pittspuke again this year. buckbuster11
Re: Colts Yeah Manning is 10 times better then last year...gimmie a break. [ QUOTE ] Oh ok bud...and what is it exactly they have done in the last five years with this great offense? 0 Super Bowls.....0 Conference Titles. Yeah, it's really working for them. [/ QUOTE ] I remember watching a Bobby Knight press conference. The Hoosiers were playing a team that beat them but 15 points the last time they faced each other. A reporter asked Knight "this team beat you by 15 last time you played, do you think you have a chance." Knight's response: "What the #@$@ does last time have to do with anything!!" The man's got a point John. [ QUOTE ] Pittsburgh has the same defense, Baltimore's might be better and San Diego aint to shabby either. BTW--please explain to me how the refs gave the Steelers the Indy game? [/ QUOTE ] Actually, I think the Chargers have the best defense in the AFC...I'm a firm believer that a good defense will beat a good offense most times. But the Colts defense isn't that bad, they'll come around. Mike Doss hasn't been playing, he'll shore that secondary up. The Colts will be able to outscore anybody, and their D will do enough to win it for them. As for the refs- I'm sure you got that game on tape...go back and watch it. hunterfisherman
Re: Colts Wow that got heated. I was just plugging my colts. You all make good points but last year means nothing. I don't think Manning has maxxed out his potential yet. He still has good years ahead. Remember Elway. Experience can mean a lot. Anyway, they have had a great team for a couple of years now but they have to do more in the playoff's to cement that.

[/ QUOTE ] I was at the game, and the STARTING D gave up 3 points. It was the 2nd and 3rd string defense who gave up the 3 scores in the 4th quarter. Also have to keep in mind that Corey Simon is being held out as a precaution after surgery early in camp. He makes the defense far better. And it's a bit early to say the Colts cant run the ball. Together, Rhodes and Addai had nearly 130 rushing yards yesterday, not to mention they caught several passes, one of which went for a TD. Edge ran for 65 i believe yesterday. I'll take 130 from 2 guys over 65 from 1 any day. The rookie Addai averaged nearly 4 YPC in week 1, and was over 5YPC yesterday, he simply needs more touches and by week 7 i look for him to replace Rhoes as the starting TB. Edge may be a great back, but it didnt help the Cards yesterday. Meanwhile the Colts are 2-0, like i have alway said, Edge will miss Manning and the Colts more then we will miss Edge. Our defense isn't the team we had last year but we are still breaking up passes. I think we still have a good chance in winning the superbowl, but right now the running game needs to improve.
