Huntr104
Me and my Dad want to plan a Whitetail Deer hunt somewhere in 2008. Preferably a Rifle hunt and maybe a combo hunt. My Dad will be 65 and we've never been on a guided hunt together. We've been deer hunting together all my life but want to get a chance to shoot a really nice deer. Could anyone give me some insight on what might be the best states to hunt? Canada might be an option as well and maybe places out west or northwest. We're from Rhode Island and like to hunt in the cold. Well I do anyway. lol. We don't want to hunt in the south. Thanks. Any help would be appreciated. I'm just starting my research so any bit of info will help. Thanks again.

wtnhunt
Re: Need Help with Hunt Location First choice for me would be the milk river in Montana, second Kansas. Iowa does not have any rifle hunting, so you can rule them out.
RangerClay
Re: Need Help with Hunt Location Definately the Milk River region if you want to stay in the US. Maybe ask SaskSheds for some good locations near him.

Huntr104
Re: Need Help with Hunt Location Sounds good. Any preferred guides? Can you hunt public lands or is everything leased? How easy are these states to obtain tags. I heard Kansas is hard. Thanks
TexasDeerHunter
Re: Need Help with Hunt Location South Texas has a fair amount of big ranches with alot of big deer. North Central Texas is starting to put some big uns in the book too. You can expect to harvest a deer scoring 145 B&C or better with a good chance at something in the 160 range.
