stevebeilgard
it wasn't dakota and i on an elk hunt. we had major help. since the fires out here, the place i was going to hunt was void of elk. 850 elk were simply missing. i called around, and asked friends for help. a cowboy named matt burges jumped in. matt has 7 figgures in acerages, but only his 180,000 acre ranch has elk. and only a few at that. and matt called in some friends. justin, john, bear (a prca bull/saddle bronc rider), tim. jeff, my son in law. and of course, my grandson kaeden. david maas and ernie. in short, we had bunches of help/support. dakota and i get credit for a great elk, and have accepted it. but, the fact is we had 5 truck loads of help. lots of good folks stepping up to the plate to make sure dakota didn't go home empty. it wasn't me. speaking of going home empty, dakota and family left gillette about 11am, and should be home in tea about the time this post enters. but he's not empty. he's got a couple hundred pounds of fine boned meat, with a nice set of antlers on top. a cheshire grin on his face, and a loving mom & dad. what a deal. he's on top of the world. just wanted you to know the full detalis. also, david maas is the north america hunting club, and ernie is his camera man. dakota will be on "tales of the hunt" soon, and you can see for yourself. i'm sure we'll keep everyone up on when that program will be on... slugshooter
Re: THE REAL DAKOTA STORY You'll have to let us know when it airs so we can watch. I'd love to see that. You could tell how happy that boy was by the smile on his face in the pic with his Elk. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't just a wee bit envious. Gobblerdad
Re: THE REAL DAKOTA STORY Hi Steve, we're home now! Just filled the freezer in the garage to the max with elk meat! Thanks so much again to you and Rilda for your hospitality, and for your guidance and encouragement! It has been a privilege to meet and to get to know you! We all had the time of our lives! A big thanks also to Jeff and Kaeden, Justin and Christina, Tom, Bill, Dave and Ernie, and of course, Matt and Bear (I apologize if I missed anyone!). Thanks again to everyone on the forums for your contribution to Dakota's fundraiser and for making it possible for Dakota's mom to come on this trip! And THIS TRIP WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED without Tina Pattison at Hunt of a Lifetime! Thank you so much!! We are so grateful to you all! Sincerely, Chuck, Jennifer, and Dakota Case

NYBUCK
Re: THE REAL DAKOTA STORY Steve awesome job by you and everyone involved. This story from the start months ago to now just warms my heart. With so much "bad" going on in the world today it is such a pleasure to have followed this story from the beginning and to be such a small part of a wonderful ending. Dakota is very deserving and I think we are all very proud of him.
