FullStrutter
Anyone ever heard of this tool? It's supposed to make field dressing easier. Apparently, i’s a T shaped handle tool that you insert into the anus of the deer to pull it and tie it off prior to removal. Anyone have one or know what I'm talking about? How is the product actually spelled? I did some internet searches for it and found nothing. Can anyone better describe how it works? Thanks! Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Deer-iere? That has to be the most useless thing since the cough silencer. Why wag around something extra when a sharp knife will do the job in 15 seconds?
c_lou
Re: Deer-iere? [ QUOTE ] Found it!! Thanks all... I tried searching for " deer field dressing tool" http://www.deer-e-ere.com/ [/ QUOTE ] That's the most disturbing video I have seen in a while. I think I will pass on this tool. A good sharp knife and this is done in about 30 seconds.

OUTSIDER
Re: Deer-iere? Well i can actually see where it can be useful....WHen I field dress a deer i usually cut down to the pelvic bone and split it where the ridge is on it exposing the bladder, and poop chute tube (lol) This makes alot of meat on the hind quarters exposed. It could be a good tool to use to isolate the rectum and such withouth having to cut down through what i mentined above.....Tie a string around the end of the rectum/ all the penile stuff, gut the deer as usual and pull it back through the body instead of cutting through all that meat and bone. Could be a good use....It would not be an easy clean for that tool....yack!!!! Well i will just keep on doing it the way i do it, thats just too dang weird. buckee
Re: Deer-iere? I watched the video, and was not impressed with what I saw. The whole reason for cutting around the anus and penis, etc is to prevent urine and feces spillage inside the animals. I cut around the anus and penis, pull in out a bit and tie it off with a piece of butchers cord (which I always carry with me during hunting season). This way, after you've made your stomach cuts, diaphragm cuts, you can pull all of that right through and everything comes out at once, with no leakage. That tool doesn't even make sense. GWSmith
Re: Deer-iere? I already carry the legal limit of Gizmo's and Gadgets BTw...Watched the video...seemed to work fairly good in removing what it was designed to do but why did the guy cut it instead of tying it off then cutting it??? Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Deer-iere? And to explain why you are carrying that around in your fanny pack. Just don't put that in your bedside drawer or get caught with it in your shirt pocket after use. I'll pass but only because $12 for a tool that my knife has worked fine on for years is a waste of $$. nhbowhunter
Re: Deer-iere? You have to admit that the product does in fact work, and seems to work pretty well. As far as the video goes, yes a little tongue and cheek humorous but it is really no less disturbing that watching a video of someone taking a knife and cutting out the anus. I really don't think any aspect of gutting is really a pretty site. I also tip my hat to the inventiveness of it. As far as whether or not it is a necessary tool, I don't think so BUT we see a lot of tools and gadgets on the market that are not necessary and yet still sell. People will buy this product, just as people buy camo muzzy broadheads, cough suppressors, scent eliminating underwear, boots with camo soles. It definitely falls under the category of "accessory" which is defined as “A supplementary part or object, used mainly for convenience or attractiveness". I applaud the enterprising spirit and out of the box thinking. I don't think this is a revolutionary product but what if Thomas Edison had said "I'll stick with candles because they work just fine"? What if Bill Jordan said "I'll stick with military camo, it does the job"? At the very least this guy is thinking and putting his idea(s) out there, which is probably more than a lot of us have done.
