OUTSIDER Posted September 20, 2006 Report Share Posted September 20, 2006 In states where crossbows are LEGAL....does the crossbow season have the same regs as archery season....and does it start/end at the same times. You have to have documented medical reasons to hunt with a crossbow in NC, but I'm pretty sure if you do it coincides with the bowhunting season. It is legal in SC without a medical permit. They just started allowing everyone use crossbows last year, before that only people with medical reasons could use them. It is at the same time as the regular archery season, but you have to buy a crossbow license. I am going to keep using a compound bow, just because I feel it is a little bit more of a challenge, plus it is just fun practicing shooting. So few actually use crossbows that the total harvest with a crossbow has been somewhere around 3% of overall kill and only about 32% of archery kills for the season 2004-05. [/ QUOTE ] They are boring. Nothing to play with in the off season. Little challenge to master. Is why I switched years ago. That being said Have no fear of them. They have not damaged Ohio bowhunting. I hunt side by side with crossbow hunters, and they do their thing and I do mine. I am happy to have their votes on hunting issues.
