What size sight pins in what order?

Historically I have used .029 pins on all my bows that I have owned and shot.

This year I am buying some .019 pins.

I'm always open to listen to new ideas but this one that I was offered seemed odd.

Here it goes.

I was offered the suggestion to put the a .019 pin as my 10 yd pin.

Now I was thinking about putting a Durabright pin, size .029 as my 10 and 20 yd pin and then use a .019 pin for both my 30 and 40 yd pins.

Am I nuts (don't answer that!) or wouldn't a smaller pin for a longer shot obstruct less of the intended target area?

Anyone else use two different size pins in their sight?

Re: What size sight pins in what order?

I had a Sword sight built for me with this configuration.

20 yd - .029

30 yd - .019

40 yd - .019

50 yd - .019

I like the smaller pins for further targets as it obstructs less of the target. I don't mind the big pin for things up close as the target point appears larger.

If you are looking at changing out fibers on existing pins, look at Fitz Fiber. They are the toughest and brightest.

I shoot .19 on all of mine. I like it b/c even with the light my near pin (17 yards) isnt too big and doesnt "starburst". I have been shooting this for 2 years, and like it so much more than the .29 I can really tell a difference in accuracy over 35 yards.
